It has been tradition to buy our hosts dinner at Pacinos the night that we arrive. Last year we Pacinos was packed so we tried Valentinos in Surfside which was good.... We tried them again this year and found them "closed for renavations" (does this mean they are closed or sold????)

So we tried Old World Italian on the Bypass... This was recommended by one of our friends and a great recommendation it was!....

Anyone try it yet? If not... you should!

The food and service at Old World are very good, and they're considered a "local's favorite." However, it is a small restaurant, and the last time visited they were not taking reservations, so we had about a 40 minute wait.

My wife and I were out looking at houses in Surfside Beach last Friday and finished around dinner time. My wife's favorite food is Italian, and I will eat anything that isn't moving, so I remembered having read about Old World Italian on the board and called for directions. The owner told me I was 10 miles away and then talked with me until I was about a mile away! One of the friendliest people I have come across in a while.
We were the only ones there when we sat down (4 PM), but by the time we finished there had to be twenty people waiting, and it seemed the owner knew every one of them! So I am guessing they are mostly locals.
I had a Heinekin and my wife a glass of wine, and we split an appetizer. I had the chicken parmesan and my wife had chicken cacciatore, the bill came to $39.00 without the tip.
I agree with Patrish and beaj01, the food was very good, as was the service.
If you are in the area a stop here would not be a bad idea at all. If you are not in the area, call up and the owner will talk you in.

Bruce,

Are you still here? We're in Garden City just down from you... 1 mile south of the GC peir... Great area... The house we're in is for sale for a meer $1.49M

Check out Pacinos on 17 Bus in GC for more good Med/Italian food.
Ate there on Saturday and they were very good... Again a small locals place.... Their red sauce (gravey) is awesome!

Also.. We went back to the Gulf Stream... 2 miles south of the GC pier... Another great place...

And tonight we did the G&B brew pub in Market Commons... Can't miss...

GL with you house hunting... Are you looking oceanfront?
