Hi everyone! I am new to the board and I was wondering what were some opinions on the Giant Crab. I am super excited about my vacation coming up in Sept and I have started researching places to go. :nanner: :nanner: :nanner:

Ok , someone please correct me if I'm wrong , but I think when I was there July 4th week The Giant Crab was closed and is now a Chinese buffett , right ? But , right beside that is The Origanal Benjamins Seafood Buffett , and it is really good , although I just go for the crab legs :nanner: !!
Someone tell me if that is right or wrong about Giant Crab ???

If you use the Search feature above, and put in "Giant and Crab" (without the quote marks) you'll see that people have eaten there as recently as last month. You can get their reviews there as well.

Giant Crab is still open. The restaurant next door to it (maybe Benjamin's Calabash or Bennett Calabash?) closed. New China Buffet has opened in that building.

Giant Crab generally gets mixed reviews. I would choose from Crabby Mike's (my favorite), Captain George, or Original Benjamin's.

We tried Crabby Mike's last year. We always try somewhere new each time and we always eat at Bennett's beacuse that is our favorite! We are also considering Ocean Garden...the chinese and seafood buffet.

Thanks Patrish , I knew I had not gone completely crazy . Its hard to mistake a Chinese Buffet , so I knew it was in there somewhere ! This whole conversation has got me craving crab legs though , I am going to have to seperate myself from this one before I end up trying to have crab legs for dinner tonight !

We went to the Giant Crab earlier this month. All our food was good and it was a nice price break being only $20.95 per person after using a $3 off coupon. Somehow that friendly looking giant crab Tommi on the building just lured us right in one night. If it helps any extra my hub is not usually a fan of buffets, but he said just yesterday that when we make it back to MB he'd like to go back to the Giant Crab, Original Benjamins and Carolina Roadhouse to eat.

:off-topic: I know, but after watching too many episodes of Deadliest Catch, it's hard for me to eat the poor things. I know, I'm a sad sack. Although, when you talk about the Giant Crab, everyone knows it. I can see it clear as day right now inside of my crab-sympathizing head!

I am glad I'm not the only one that this has happened to. I love the show.... but haven't had crab legs in a long time!

I know you all will think I am crazy but I have never had crab legs! I just can't get my nerve up to do it. I was 19 before I had deviled crab, clams, mussels, etc. I am trying to get up enough courage to try them at the Giant Crab. Any pointers?

Well, for a starter: make sure they are dead. :nanner: :fart:

Oh, and cooked. Cooked is a biggie, too.

Oh.. yeah! She's really gonna try them now, Mike! :nanner: :nanner:

Seriously, just crack 'em and take a bite. They are good and they should be tender, not soggy or rubbery. If it is -- grab another one. They also usually serve with drawn butter and lemon. Try them plain first. JMHO.

p.s. -- Kerplunk, I sent you a PM!
