We have a lot of diverse ratings on this board for Drunken' Jack's evening meals, but no one has mentioned lunch.

Today I had lunch with 10 women who live on my street. We get together on a monthly basis because we like to eat, we enjoy each other's company, and it gives us a chance to compare restaurants and talk about what's new in Myrtle Beach. We can number as many as 26 to as few as 4 and we take turns choosing a restaurant location. Today it was Drunken Jack's on the Marshwalk in Murrells Inlet.

Our waitress brought everyone a tall glass of water, without being asked. She then placed 3 baskets. each full of their famous and delicious hush puppies on the table. Then she gave us a few minutes to look over the menu as we wolfed down the hush puppies. (Who needs lunch?) You can follow along with the lunch menu here:
http://www.drunkenjacks.net/id22.html

I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp from the Starter menu. These were 6 gigantic shrimp on a bed of rice pilaf. The horseradish sauce was tangy and tasteful. I cleaned my place. 8.50

Nancy, on my left, ordered the Baked Crab and Artichoke Dip, also from the Starter menu, and on the recommendation of our waitress. She said it was delicious. It was certainly plenty for one person to enjoy as a meal. 10.00

The next two women opted to split the Drunken Jack's Sampler which the said was excellent. 10.50

Three in our group ordered the Crispy Chicken Salad, and as soon as I saw it I thought "I'll be back for that!" It consisted of pecan encrusted chicken pieces with mixed greens, noodles and a big flaky croissant. 8.95

Jean, on my right , started with the She Crab soup. 5.95. She is known as a good cook, so when she said it was as good as she made at home, I knew it must be excellent. She also ordered the Shrimp Salad. It had smaller shrimp than the ones I enjoyed on my Jumbo Shrimp skewer, but they were bigger than the usual salad shrimp. It made a good looking dish. 11.50

I don't remember what the other ordered, but we all agreed that Drunken Jack's is a good choice for lunch.

We just got back from lunch at Drunken Jack's. Food was A+++! It wasn't crowded and the lunch portions appeared to be the same size as the dinner portions.

Something I don't remember doing before... was paying for hush puppies. I thought that they always came with dinner, but on the lunch menu if you wanted hush puppies it was $3.50. Considering my 80 year old mother thinks they have the best and we'd never hear the end of it if she didn't get them - of course we got an order.

I got an appetizer that had more than enough food (bacon wrapped shrimp, bacon wrapped scallops, mini crab cakes and blackened beef tips), Jim got fantail shrimp dinner and Mom got the flounder platter. With an order of hush puppies, iced tea for Jim and coffee for mom, the total bill was $53 and some change.

If you went away hungry from lunch today - it's your own fault. They serve lunch until 2:30 pm and I don't think I'll ever fight the crowds at dinner time any more.

Thanks for bringing this string to the top. I had forgotten about it!

Here's their current lunch menu. The one I linked at the top does not work anymore.

You are right, Barb. The hush puppies were always included. It seems we are paying a little more at all our favorite restaurants - to say nothing about the tax!!

Glad to see there are a few people commenting on the GOOD food at Drunken Jacks. We enjoyed our first seafood meal there last January...the food was great, and we were able to take some home for another small meal. The hushpuppies were included with the meal at that time so charging for them is something new. But they are indeed delicious. Can't wait to get back there next winter!!!

Would love to hear more comments on this restaurant. Diane

We also tried Drunken Jack's for lunch. It was our first visit there.

While it's not cheap for lunch for two (around $35), we had more than enough food on our plates. I got a Shrimp Po Boy with sweet potato fries, and Bruno got a pulled pork sandwich with veggies. With bottomless refills of sweet tea and one basket of hushpuppies, we were stuffed, and left with the rest of our food.

And if I'm perfectly honest, those hushpuppies are absolutely GREAT.

I hadn't been to Drunken Jacks in years but when John was out of town a few weeks ago John Blue and I went out on a "date" and I told him he could pick anywhere he wanted and after running through all his favorite places....Salt Creek Cafe, Carrabas, California Dreaming,Prossers and Dockside...he said he want to try the pirate place that daddy wont wait in line to eat at...lol. So we got there at four o clock and were seated immediately...with a lovely view. John Blue had the kids shrimp and I had the appetizer sampler. Both were good. Along with ice teas and hush puppies it was about 17.00 before tax...which is pretty good. We had plenty of food. When we left the line had formed and I heard someone say it was an hour and a half wait.
We had a nice time ...it was good...got a little too touristy toward the end...not great...so only a non wait option.

We're heading down next week and plan on spending Sunday lunch at Drunken Jacks!
