Taken from The Weekly Surge, local restaurant notes, written by Timothy C. Davis:

The House of Blues (4640 US 17 South, Barefoot Landing) is kicking off its summer happy hour and hosting a Sugar Shack Deck menu launch at the restaurant/concert hall. Entitled "Live at 5:00", the event features complimentary hors d'oeuvers, $2.50 margaritas, $2 domestics, $2.75 house liquores and more. To boot, the new Sugar Shack Deck menu will feature a variety of grub options, all priced at less than $10. For more information, call 843-913-3704 or www.hob.com

Thanks for posting this ! We stay in Barefoot Resort and have talked several times about stoping in at HOB , so this sounds great ! We like to do the Happy Hour thing instead of eating a big meal , so that will work out well , plus we both like to try new places . Thanks again !

I went to the website and couldn't find anything on it. We've eaten there before with the kids and everyone loved it. I wonder if the happy hour is kid friendly or not. It would be nice to go with the kids, have a drink, and some low priced grub while listening to some music.

While I can't speak for Happy hour, per se, I do know that the place seemed kid friendly enough when we were there. It is nothing fancy and the tables/chairs are pretty indestructible/kid proof (not cloth) Nothing they could ruin. There were lots of kids there when we ate there. It can get loud, so that helps, too, because nobody notices if your kids are a little louder than they should be because everybody was! :nanner:

I actually called yesterday , just to see if I could get anymore info and spoke to 2 different people who were lets say less than thrilled that I was asking , but the only info i got was that they have complimentary appetizers on the deck for Happy Hour ??? So , we just decided to go while there and try it ...

I'll let everyone know when I get back. We'll be there July 1 through July 7.

Glen

PS. Don’t you just love it when people get annoyed with you because you are asking them to do their job by asking them a simple question? I hate to sound like an old man (I’m 42 but I’m sure I am old to some of the people on here) but there’s no such thing as customer service any more! That’s another posting for another forum! LOL

Yes glen65 , I do hate when people act like you are doing them a disservice by asking them a question about their place of business . I only asked because we were intereested enough to want to go and try it out .....
We are going to be in NMB from 6/29 - 7/7 , and we are plaaning to go and try it out and see what we think... I will post when we go and let everyone know what we thought .... I am going to take my laptop along ... I think , so I can probably post the next morning .
Oh , and by the way , you're not old ... I just turned 40 on 5/23 and I dont feel a bit old ! :nanner:
Have a great beach trip !

Some days I feel much older than other days!

If I get a chance, I'll give them a yell later today and see if I can get lucky and actually get a helpful person who isn't bothered by us pesky customers who keep them employed.

Sorry guys, I got this info right out of a MB newsletter/newpaper this week. I have been contemplating checking it out myself...apologies if it turns out less than what is expected. Please share your experiences and for the HOB's sake, I hope they provide what's promised. This message board is pretty darn popular! :notworthy: Their restaurant might need to be renamed "House of the Crying Blues"...

Colleen ~ I just appreciate you posting info like that , since you are a local now and have the "inside scoop " We are going to try it out while we are in town , but I am sure it will be good . I have talked to several others who have eaten there and they have had nothing but good things to say . I think when I called the other day , I made the mistake of calling at a busy time and honestly, I should have known better.
We will definately go and then post what our experience was ..... but Thanks again for the information !
Lori

I've eaten at the HOB in New Orleans and in MB and the food is very good. I didn't get a chance to call and it's 7:00 now. I'm sure they are way to busy to call but I will and I'll post my findings.

Well , now that we have been to the HOB I am totally confused ..... we went on Tuesday afternoon and had a couple beers and the bartender said the appetizers would be ready shortly and even asked the person handling them when they would be ready .... BUT , we werent able to stay ,long enough to actually eat anything . The next day my brother and sister in law went down there and they were told that they dont have any complimentary appetizers out there , in fact all they had out there were sandwiches , and all of those were at least $10.00 or more ...... so I am confused , I heard the bartender say they do have comp. apetizers out there and even saw the person in the little shack to the side of the outdoor bar getting it all ready .... so I am really not sure what to post . Sorry I dont have better info ....

Just to let everyone know. We're back but we never made it over to their happy hour. Yet another reason to go back to MB.

Ok ..... I just got the scoop !! Live at 5:00 is every Thursday from 5pm - 7pm ... with live music , free appetizers , and drink specials . So , that explains why we were told they didnt have anything like that is because we were there on the wrong day ! So , if you are in NMB on a Thursday afternoon around 5pm or so , stop in ... she said it is outdoors weather permiting , if the weather is bad it will be inside . Have fun !
