I'm normally not much of a breakfast eater, but on vacation that all changes and I absolutely insist on having a good one to start the day. I've noticed you all seem to like talking about food and I love eating it  so I thought I'd toss out a general question...

What are your top 3 places to go for breakfast while in town? Would you please include where they are located and if they fall into the high, mid or low priced? That saves me some time from having to jump from thread to thread  . This should give me plenty of options to pick from.

Thanks!
-Marla

Well, mostly we eat breakfast in because we are literally dying to get down to the beach. However, on rainy days we've gone to:

1. Harry's (24th Ave N) -- http://www.myrtlebeachscrestaurants.com/Harrys-Breakfast-Pancakes-Myrtle-Beach.html cheap, great specials, good FRENCH TOAST, yum and they have discounts/coupons.

2. Sea Captain's House -- mid range http://www.SeaCaptains.com Great view of the ocean. Good Crab Cakes Benedict (most expensive breakfast menu item ~10bucks)

3. Krispy Kreme washed down with Starbucks! YUMMO. Make sure the "hot donut" sign is on.

I don't have a top 3... just a top 2. We don't get to go out to eat too much, so I typically stick to my favorites for breakfast. :-)

Akels Family Restaurant
6429 N Kings Hwy Myrtle Beach, SC
(on Bus. 17 between 64th and 65th)
Very inexpensive- huge portions

Bob Evans
3384 WACCAMAW BLVD
MYRTLE BEACH SC 29579
(On 501 at the River Oaks exit)
Mostly inexpensive- large portions

I hear the Sea Captains House has a terrific breakfast, but I haven't tried it yet.

I guess our top three would be:

1. Akels
6429 No. Kings Hwy, MB

2. Plantation Pancake House
9707 No. Kings Hwy, MB
(Several other locations scattered up and down Hwy 17)

3. Atlanta Bread Co. (Pat's favorite)
7611 No. Kings Hwy, MB
(More of a bakery, but also has breakfast sandwiches)

Up at the far north end.....Cherry Grove....NMB....Little difference in the top three.......

1st would be Tar Baby's on Sea Mountian Highway:
Best known for buffet but "off menu" items are good also. Buffet not as large as chain restuarants but good for the cost.
Service very fast. I ordered western omelet and it was at table same time the others returned from buffet.
Drinks served in small plastic glasses with Tar Baby logo. You take them with you for free. Grandkids love drinking out of them here at home.
Little tip: If everybody orders buffet, Somebody needs to stay at table. Service so fast, a table with empty chairs means clean up for next group.
Reason for being rated 1st would be the glasses and location. First place we pass when we arrive on Saturday morning after all night drive.

2nd choice would be Atlantis on Ocean Blvd. Just south of Sea Mountain stoplight:
Same food quality and fast service as Tar Baby's. No buffet. All menu items.
Biggest plus is location. Depending on your idea of "easy walk", you can walk from rental unit to breakfast.

3rd would be Hoskin's on Main Street in Ocean Drive:
Again. Fast service and good home cooked meals. No buffet.
Easy walk from oceanfront units near Main Streeet. Actually not a bad walk from lower end of Cherry Grove.
Big plus with Hoskin's is they serve other meals besides breakfast. Sleep late. Some of you can order off breakfast menu while others in party can order lunch menu.

Very, very last choice of allllll the NMB places to eat would be Denny's. Slowest service on the east coast...........

The Spring House is nice. Low prices and great food. I am not a big breakfast eater but I have to go at least one time with my husband. It is across from the Alligator Park in North Myrtle. Cathy

I'm a big fan of Hot Stacks. There are a few others on the board that have mentioned this establishment w/ no complaints.

Hot Stacks has (2) locations.
1501 N Kings Hwy (Myrtle Beach)
87 Hwy 17 N (N MB)

I tried Dinos last week. No complaints.
2120 Hwy 17 S (N MB)
(more details in an upcoming restaurant review)

This is an easy choice:

1. Sea Captain's House 30th Ave N and Ocean Blvd. First breakfast at the beach, and last breakfast at the beach. Excellent buffet and the view can't be beat.

2. Springhouse at 25th Ave. N and Kings Hwy. Cheap and good. Great service.

3. Harrys at 24th Ave. N and Kings Hwy. Even cheaper and just as good.

Spring house at 25th ave. and Kingshighway is a good place to chow down for breakfast. The service was good and there were plenty of choices as well.

Nibils at Surfside pier is also nice if you want ocean atmosphere too.

We've been going to MB for 30 years. I think the best breakfast is K&W.
Last month we were in MB & K&W was closed during the week for breakfast Only open on the weekend so we tried a few pancake places & couldn't believe the difference. First K&W prepares your food right in front of you. The waffles are so good & they put real whipped butter & hot syrup. Can't compare to the pancake places. We were really disappointed K&W was not open during the week. Hope next year they will be.
