Staying in Myrtle week of February 15-23 -- I am going to be running the 5K on Friday night, but then have 2 boys aged 9 and 12 that need stuff to do while we are there. We did Wonderworks and Ripleys last year.... Last year they were very disappointed that almost all the touristy stuff was closed -- any ideas would be very much appreciated!!!!

I'm sorry so much closes in the winter. It is a little more difficult to find family things to do in the winter, but here are some suggestions that may help. Congratulations on running in the 5K, and good luck to you! And thanks for joining our forum!

Kelly, welcome to the board! Patrish gave some great suggestions above. I posted this response to you in the "Where do our Kids love to go?" section:

--------------
I'm sure there will be a few miniature golf courses that remain open... especially the Dragon's Lair at Broadway at the Beach. http://www.myrtlebeachfamilygolf.com/dragons_lair.aspx

The Nascar Speedpark is open year-round for go-kart racing (at least they used to be... might want to check by calling 843-918-8725). http://www.nascarspeedpark.com/sc.aspx

One of the locals can confirm this, but I believe that horses are allowed on the beach during the winter months. http://www.myrtlebeachhorserides.com/

How about a fishing charter. Many of the companies also have charters in the inlet or on the intracoastal waterway. http://northmyrtlebeachfishingcharters. ... arters.htm

There are two arcades on the Boardwalk. Our favorite is the "Fun Plaza" which is open-air. The classic baseball games in there are a MUST-DO for us every visit.

The new Zipline Adventures are on the property of the old Pavilion, which is near those arcades: http://mbziplines.com/adrenaline-adventures/

And of course the Sky Wheel is in the same area: http://myrtlebeachskywheel.com/

Be sure to look at the ads in the local newspaper when you get there. Even though February is "golfing season," I've seen several families there while I've been on golf trips.

Scott
