I've also posted this on Tripadvisor but figured I would give this site a try too

My husband and I are looking to take our son and his friend to MB during their Spring Break next April 1-6. I had picked out Atlantica and was going to pay the deposit when I read somewhere that the parking is 2 blocks away? Is that true and would it really be a big deal? I've been looking around again and would like to stay in that general area near everything. Since it's early in April, it shouldn't be too busy. We stayed at Compass Cove last year, last week in March and it was too far South. I would like to stay around $600, which is what Atlantica will cost for 5 nights. If anyone can give some insight, I would appreciate it.

I have tried to look at the hotels around that area, but many don't have rates yet and its just over 9 months out. Any idea when they will be out?

I have also tried VRBO and while they are somewhat cheaper, once you add in cleaning fees, they are not all that cheap.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, Kari, and welcome to our board!

Most of the accommodations don't post their new rates until after the first of the year. If you are wanting to budget ahead, you might call Atlantica and ask to speak with a manager. Ask what the average rate increase has been for the last couple years during the time you want to visit. He/She should be able to give you this information immediately. That will at least give you an idea.

The parking is across the street which can be inconvenient, esp. with small children. I'm trying to visualize it in my mind to guess the distance. If I get time today, I'll drive over there and take a look.

Kari, I drove over to Atlantica this morning. There is a parking lot directly across from the hotel. I also went inside to find out their parking options.

Apparently they own the lot directly across the street, but in addition to that, they own 3 more lots facing Ocean Blvd, across the street. Then, in addition to the three lots, they also have a couple more lots directly behind the ones that face the hotel. So I guess where find a space will determine how far you have to walk. It is not that much of a walk, and the city blocks in this area are a lot shorter than, say, the city blocks in Manhattan.

Hope this helps!

I love it too and hope to move to the area sometime! My husband used to live in Georgetown, but moved back to Ohio for a job, so we both would love to move down again! Thanks again so much!!

Just happened to look at the recent reviews and they are not too good!! I may rethink Atlantica after all. It's in a good location for us and we want 2 bedrooms, one king and oceanfront. Any other ideas?

Atlantica is located at N. Ocean Blvd at 17th Ave N.

Here are some that are located a few blocks to the N.

Breakers
www.breakers.com/
20th Ave. N.

Dayton House
http://www.daytonhouse.com/
24th Ave. N

http://www.camelotresort.com/
20th Ave. N

Anderson Ocean Club

26th Ave.

Best Western Plus Carolinian Beach Resort
http://www.oceanaresorts.com/hotels/carolinian
25th Ave. North

If you want to be further south, you can take a look at the hotels near the Boardwalk:

Also, you might want to take a look at Myrtle Beach Sky Tour. It has not been updated in a few years, but the older hotels are listed and you can view them with the interactive map.

I can't give you any insight on reviews except to say that Dayton House gets consistently good reviews on this board.
