Sorry for all the random posts about traveling with a 1 year old, but this is all SO NEW for us when it comes to traveling with a kid, rather than just us!

So we are able to check the stroller and car seat as both of our additional baby item for free so that's no problem. I do have a question about the car seat though since we didn't buy Nolan a seat. I have heard many suggestions on bringing the car seat to the terminal and seeing if there is an open seat... if so, they will let us take the extra seat and Nolan can actually sit in him car seat, rather than checking it. Has anyone ever done this? if it didn't work out do they just take the carseat with your stroller when you board? I have visions of something going wrong.... haha

Also, since there are no direct flights to MB from Minneapolis yet (hopefully soon), we have to have a lay-over. With that said, do we have to pick up the stroller (and car seat) between our flights byt the gate and recheck them again when transferring flights? I have no clue howw this all works!!! :geek:

I would check with your airline to be certain. You wouldn't want to be given incorrect information and start your vacation on a bad note.

I found this info:

http://www.twinslist.org/flyStroll.htm

This is from Delta's site:

Quote:
Strollers & Child Restraint Seats
Children’s strollers and seat restraints are not counted as part of the standard baggage and therefore can easily be checked for free. For your convenience these items may be checked at curbside, the ticket counter, or at the gate.

Child restraint seats may be brought on board the plane in certain circumstances. For instance, if there is an open passenger seat in your row, you may place your child in an FAA-approved child restraint in that seat during take-off and landing. If an empty passenger seat is not available for your child restraint, the item must be checked at the gate by a Delta representative.
