First, thanks to all for the information on Rte. 64/288 - it is a beautiful ride. We arrived Monday in Myrtle Beach from Cape Cod. Will be here for 4-1/2 months!

We did 2 nights on the road because of our cats. However, in retrospect, it's probably more stressful for them to spend two nights in a hotel and definitely harder on us (as in total lack of sleep). So, here's my latest driving question:

We'd like to make our return trip with only one night on the road. Our usual route is 95 to 66/15 to 81 to 78 over the Tappen Zee bridge. I'm looking at the following but don't know anything about this route (our travel will be on a Saturday/Sunday): MB 17N to I40W to I95N, north of Fredericksburg pick up I495 around DC, then pick up I270 to I70 onto Rte. 81, probably staying in Harrisburg (if the mileage is around 500-550 on day one). I've never read anything about this route, especially on a week end, March 31/April 1, so weather shouldn't be an issue. Any thoughts from anyone.

I'd certainly be open to any other suggestions that avoids most of the 95 corridor (MD,DC, NJ, NY).

Thanks in advance, this board has been the most helpful of any forum I know. We're looking forward to a wonderful winter in MB.

Well, I can't help you with the routes, but I think it's cool that you get to be here for 4.5 months. Where are you staying? If you get some free time, please give me a call. Wally and I love to meet our Message Board members for lunch, dinner, or happy hour.

Right now we're at Myrtlewood, but December 4 we're moving to Tupelo Bay until the end of March. We stayed there 2 years ago and really like it. With our monthly rental, we get 4 rounds of golf and 5 buckets of balls per month. They have a nice indoor heated pool plus an outdoor pool, a complete workout facility, and, of course, the golf course. My husband bowls, right up the street is a bowling alley where he bowled in a Wednesday and Friday morning non-sanctioned but fun league. He really enjoyed it.

We'd love to meet up with you and Wally and, of course, others. Is that the famous "meet ups" where a place is designated and all who can show up?
