We'd love to make the meet-up, but I've been putting in extra weekend shifts due to a staff shortage and have to go to work at 7PM Saturday. I hope everyone has an enjoyable and rewarding time...

First, I can't say enough good things about the service at LandShark last night. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. But we had to hunt him down to pay our bills. Makes me wonder how many people leave without paying.

Here's Becca and Don. Becca reminds me a lot of her sister Jan, who many of you know through this board. She and Don are having a great time at the beach! Although it has been awhile since we've seen her, I was so glad she made the effort to come to this meetup.

Danny and Karen (kish73) were high school sweethearts. Can you tell? We always look forward to seeing them. As anyone who has ever been to a meet-up will tell you, you'll hear lots of different accents, and there's no doubt that Karen and Danny are from South Carolina. I'm thinking about making Danny a spokesman for the board. When he says he is glad to see you, meet you, or talk with you, he's so sincere that it makes me feel like I'm listening to one of the southern gentlemen in Gone With the Wind.

Meeting Scherry and Dave was a pleasure. They tagged along with Becca and Don, and I hope they are future Message Board members! Not only do they love the beach just like the rest of us, but more importantly they fit right into our "message board family." Can you believe they have 14 grandchildren? Me either!

I always look forward to seeing Vicki and Kay. Everyone seems to know "Ms. Kitty" due to her participation on the board. If you have not met her yet, I hope you'll have the opportunity someday. Vicki and her husband Kay have been coming to meet-ups for as long as I can remember and they have become dear friends.

And just when you're thinking that everyone except Karen, Danny, and yours truly traveled here from Ohio for a meet-up, please meet our newest Myrtle Beach residents, Pat and Rich. Many of you have been following richmax46's string on the board titled "A leap of faith." You know the joys and sadness they've experienced on the final journey from NH to SC. The move took them through Hurricane Irene’s fury, and a trip that should have taken 16 hours took 23 instead. But the bottom line is that they're here now, and bless their hearts, they'll be identifying the contents of hundreds of boxes for the next several months.

Wally is usually the one taking pictures at the meet-ups, so thanks to Pat who picked up the camera for this shot of us:

I took this one of the group, just before Rich and Pat arrived:

The LandShark was a good choice. The food and service were both good, and the location is perfect for beach lovers. The string we have going elsewhere on this board concerning parking meters was discussed in some detail, with the bottom line being that "there has to be a better way."

Thanks to all of you who enjoyed this meet-up with us. I know it means giving up several hours of your vacation time, and that can't always be easy to do Please know how much Wally and I appreciate it! "Memories are made of this."

Thanks for the great report on last night's meet up, Patrish, and the terrific pictures. Pat and I had a great time reconnecting with folks and meeting others for the first time. Once again, what has been said many times before and continues to hold true, is that a great group of folks populate our message board and make meet up after meet up a wonderful experience. Thanks everyone.

What great pictures! It looked like a good time and the Landshark looks like a great place to meet. Nice turnout.

I COMPLETELY forgot about the meet up. We arrived that afternoon and as I was getting ready for bed that night I remembered it! I even had it on my itinerary. And it looked like a great turn out. I'll try to make it next time I'm down.
