We have made an adjustment in our departure date from 8/16/11 to 8/30/11 and we have decided not to come down for the week of 7/30 - 8/6 and have reopened our condo for renters for those three weeks. We found we need those additional weekends to get everything here done and give us enough time to see everyone we need to see before we leave. As long as we are there by the time the snow flies in NH, we are fine. I have, however, sold the snowblower, so there is no turning back.

We have had no activity on our house for the last two weeks until two showings yesterday, one of which our realtor says looks very promising.

Early last week our property manager in Myrtle Beach called to inform us that the downstairs air handler in our condo had failed and needed to be replaced, a $2300 bill. Ah, the joys of home ownership!

Keep plugging along with the sale as it will go.
we have the faith going for you. We used the old
burying the statue of St. Joseph routine and when we
sold we dug him up and he came with us to our new home
and has a spot on my computer desk now.....

richmax46,

Were you able to sell your house?

My wife and I have to sell my house in Washington State, and our house here in Harpers Ferry... and only have 8 years to do it before I will be eligible (actually READY) to retire.

My wife owns a salon, and has been a Stylist for 35 years, and hopefully the ladies there will be seeking the BEST colorist and stylist EVER! lol

We have not sold the house yet nor has Pat found her job, but we are still moving down at the end of the month. We had our moving sale which was quite successful, and are selling our couch and dining room furniture tomorrow. Two of Pat's cousins are accompanying us to MB to help with the driving, as we will have the Penske truck and our two cars. The "caravan" is leaving Keene on the morning of the 28th and will arrive in MB on 8/29.

I hope we know what we are doing!

Best wishes to you both! Be sure to keep in touch, and we're looking forward to seeing you when you get settled. I was hoping your house would sell...sorry to hear it has not.

I have to totally agree with JoAnn...

Things are are of the utmost importance ALWAYS seem to get done.

I truly wish you the best, as I know exactly what it's like to try and sell a house in this current economy.
Ughhh.

I can't even sell my Washington State house for the amount owed, which is $20,000 less than the "market value"... and i sure ain't giving it away! LOL

One week from today, August 28th, our moving caravan will be heading south for what, I hope, will be an uneventful 960 miles to our new home at Land's End. We will spend the night in Virginia and arrive in MB on the 29th. I have had to increase the size of our Penske rental truck from 16' to 22'. I was not crazy about driving the smaller one, so I am really apprehensive about handling this larger one. The 22' truck has a 50 gallon diesel tank and, according to Penske's site will get 8 - 12 mpg.

I guess I will be leading the group with Murphy (my dog) as my partner, Pat will follow in her car with her cousin, Mary, and her husband, Bob, and she will be followed in my car by her cousin, Donna, and her husband, David. Initially we had just one cousin coming to drive the extra car, but that soon became both couples who will stay with us for a several days before flying home on Direct Air. They, along with us, will also be our unloading crew.

All of this is finally happening with a couple of loose ends, our house here in Keene has not sold and both of us are still without jobs. Details, details.

I would certainly appreciate any advice from anyone who has driven one of these rental trucks for a long distance.

Rich,
That 22 foot Penske drives like a dream, the truck
moves right along and gets good gas mileage.
Just remember that you have to stop at those
areas that have the lights on for weight stations.

Some times the other cars can follow you in and wait
1 or 2 of those stations have no room for the others to stay behind you, so keep that in mind. we stayed overnight in Virginia
as well on way down from NY, just pad lock the rear door and put it away for the night
any other info u need we here to help...... :sunny:

With the remaining days dwindling to just a handful, we were experiencing some anxious moments leaving our house here in New Hampshire unsold and unattended, but after an afternoon showing yesterday, we received a full price offer! The decision to accept was probably a record for the real estate industry. The inspection will be this Saturday, the day before our departure, and the closing will be on Sept. 30th. We could not believe that after waiting since May through many showings and three open houses that it was over so quickly.

Even with earthquakes, hurricanes, and other potential offerings from Mother Nature making it tough, we know our arrival in MB will be worth it.
