Well we are officially on our way to MB :cheerleader: ! Stopped in Watertown this morning to have breakfast @ Cracker Barrel, they serve such an obscene amount of food for the price :ac17[1]: ! We are presently at the Fairfield Inn in Hazleton, Pa. Ate dinner ate the Damon's on site, not too impressed. Advertised as a sports bar, but couldn't get a bloody mary. One choice of bottled beer and two choices of draft. All three sucked. Fries were cold, fish was greasy and tasteless. I'm sure the meals in MB will be much better. Long drive tomorrow, since our next reservations are in Little River. Little disappointed in the gas mileage of our new vehicle, must not have washed it good enough :dontknow: :toofless: .

Hey Ron we had terrible gas mileage this year at the beach. Our Tahoe is getting older so we kinda blamed it on that but someone mentioned that it was probably the ethanol in the gas. Just curious if you are using 100% gas which is very hard to find here at home.
Have a great trip :nanner:

They still make 100% gas :)

Gas costs here have no rhymne nor reason, by my house. gas is $3.45 at both Kangaroos 2 miles from the backgate, furthur south on 707 gas is $3.39, yesterday I had to drop my pool pump off for new bearings and was going to go to Costco but on 10th Ave at the Hess it was $3.19, figured Costco could not be much cheaper and no driving into out of the mall area.

Okay Ron, did you get that, 10th Ave also known as Mr Joe White Blvd, between Oak St and the Bypass, cheapest gas. And a good car wash is over on 501 south of Walmart, Detricks it's a good automatic one and free vac's, just wash before leaving town and get the wax for added wind slippage and you will get much better gas milage on the way home.

Enjoy your stay

Gary

Gas prices in Surfside area were so much lower than what we are paying in our part of SE OH...actually, we paid less for gas on the entire trip...than here at home...not enough competition I guess...

Okay, had this almost typed once, and I touched something and POOF,it's gone :BandHead: ! Would have liked to get a little better gas mileage, but I can live with a couple less miles per gallon  . Trip from Pa.to Little River was uneventful other than the fact that I have to take Lasik in the morning :ohnoes: !!! Gotta love the rest areas :notworthy: . Ate at a Popeyes in Fredricksburg, tried the "gladly pay you Thursday for a hamburger today" but they didn't go for it  .
We had a difficult time finding a parking space, but finally made it into Duffy's Seafood Shack. What a great way to start a vacation :cheerleader: :bounce: . Everyone loved their meals, and we had a $50 Restaurant.com certificate. Our waitress was Courtney and she was very attentive. Along with drinks, we ordered Blackened Fish Tacos, Mucho macho nachos, fried pickles, pig skin shrimp, 2 doz steamed clams, 2 pounds of crab legs, 2 ribeyes with shrimp, chicken quesadilla, plus desserts :ac17[1]: . Total with tip after discount $142.04, and no one left hungry!! We're at the Holiday Inn
express in Little River now ready for some shut eye!! This is a great hotel for the price, $67 for the night!

Glad you made it safely to Little River. Wish I was there again. Have a great time. I'm envious, but I was there in June.

Same here.... glad you got into Horry County and looking forward to your installments ! Can't believe this is the first "August in Myrtle" we have missed in many years. Seems a good part of our MBMB clan is in town.

Wally, they gave us a BOGO certificate for Waterscapes here at the condo :nanner: !!
BTW, for the bloody mary folks, Duffy's one down fall might be theirs, okay but nothing special. When we awoke this morning we weren't sure about our plans for breakfast. Turns out that the Holiday Inn had a super continental breakfast, I could almost smell the bacon in our room  . One problem with being an early riser on the Grand Strand is that very little is open when you get up. Fortunately we wasted enough time for Mini golf courses to open up. Played Mayday Golf, four of our group played one course, rest played the second course. Nice courses, and of course I had low score with two under par :bounce:
Next stop of course was Martin's. Eddie it turns out, only has two outfits in his luggage, so grandma was able to get a couple sets for him on sale @ Martins. I love that store, but I was a good boy and didn't spend any money :angel7: .
Headed to Barefoot Landing next, girls shopped and us guys went to Bullys for refreshments :drinkin: . Fulfulling my duties as admin, I felt compelled to drink several bloody marys and they must have been good because I was happy when I left. Kids had virgin strawberry daquiris.
We had a restaurant.com coupon for Fire Island Grille. Waited for quite a while before we got our food. I complained, so manager was supposed to come see us. That didn't happen, but food came out right after I griped. It was worth the wait, everything was very tasty, especially my shrimp bisque and salad. Atmosphere in the place is also pretty cool!!
Gracie rode the carousel after lunch while the boys climbed up this weird contraption just to go down a blow up slide. Since the place was slow, the operator let them go twice. Then we got our 2.5 pounds of palines from River Street Sweets + 15 free pieces of taffy. Before leaving to check into the condo, the kids went into the Mirror Maze.
Check in @ the Sheraton was swift, and Phyllis and I got a card and balloons for our anniversary. Nice touch, but I would have rather a unit closer to the pool. We are in one of the original buildings of the Plantation developement. We own in the Palmetto, but this was the only room we could get went I booked. Still a nice unit, plus we still have points left for a mini vacation.
After chilling in the room for a couple hours, we left for BATB to go to Yamatos. Reservations were for 6:30 so we were seated as soon as we got there. As usual, the food was good and there was plenty of it. The Hibachi Chef this time was pretty entertaining as well. Always fun checking out the changes around BATB, kids liked the statue girl and the balloon guy. Finally headed to Bilos for groceries before crashing back here in the room. Must be having a good time, 'cause my :bootyshake: is draggin

My parents and I ate there a couple of years ago and really liked it! I remember we waited a long time for our food as well, but once we got our food we were pretty happy. We really enjoyed it.

I am enjoying the report so far!

The hostess explained that they are seldom busy for Sunday lunch, so there was only one person in the kitchen. They were quite busy yesterday. Proper thing to do if food is taking long is to address the issue with the patrons who are waiting. Server did subtract 10% for the inconvenience. Had someone explained the dilemma to us, we would have understood, I just hate sitting for an hour with no contact from our server. Bottom line is the food was excellent, and we would definitely go back.
Eating breakfast in the condo right now so the wallet can get a rest  , and planning todays activities :nanner:
