I'm jealous!!!!you are there again and so soon. If I only lived 6 hrs away and not 12 I'd do it again too. Have fun and be nice and let Ruann sleep late (like I like to do) Just have to ask, is she ever up to take a picture of a sunrise????

This trip we had a crew with us. Six in all. Daughter Joann and her son Stan (Meathed). Youngest son couldn't make the trip because he has a new one due in a few weeks so we took his two with us. Hayley (6) and Caleb (3)

Daughter's mini van has had a ton of recalls and other problems so loading it down with all of us and luggage was scary thought. Went with two vehicles. Pontiac and my tried and true 4 cylinder S-10 gets me to work and back puddle jumper.

Easiest trip ever for packing. To be safe, I threw in every beach chair we had along with corn hole boards, bocce ball and even a bag of discs for disc golf.

Our reservations were Sunday to Sunday. Called around looking for something for two nights. For a few dollars more than a motel room out on 17 we were able to get a one bedroom condo in same building as weeks reservations. Major strain on our budget but would rather eat baloney sandwiches at the beach than sit two days at the house waiting to leave.

Friday 15th.
Daughter finally showed up. Will never figure out how a female thinks. Instead of being at bank when doors open. She uses her head and waits until 8 to leave house because that would give the teller time to be up and running when she got there.

We hit the road just before 9. Usual easy pace. Usual amount of stops. Other than some slow traffic for a few miles because of super sized over sized load it was smooth sailing the whole way.

Checked in a little after five and headed out to beach. This was Caleb's first look at ocean and wasn't too sure about it. Wasn't long before I had both little ones soaked and still in street clothes.

Cleaand up and headed to Basil's for first meal. I walked up with the kids while Ruann and Joann drove. Pizza, sandwiches and stromboli. Great as it is every trip.

After dinner it was time for Boulineau's IGA to pick a few things to get us through till Sunday. Walked the kids back to Ocean Club along the beach in the dark. Few minutes back in the room little Caleb was out for the night.

Alan can't wait to read more! You always stay in the area we are most familiar with so it seems like we are coming home when you post your report. LOVE Basil's, the best calzone I have ever eaten :hello:

Since we are coming back to NMB in October, I'm taking notes Alan. We have been considering bribing our daughter so we can bring our grand-daughter (5 in November), so I'm interested to hear how you faired with the little ones.

Up with the sun. Stan was on sleeper sofa with his mom. Smacked him on the way out the door. He got up and walked beach with me. Up to Cherry Grove Pier and back. Couple sharks teeth. No shells. Little if any wind.

By the time we ate breakfast and started hauling stuff to beach the wind had picked up. Bad enough a quick look around to see others having umbrella and canopy problems I hauled our umbrella/shelter back to the truck.

Little ones played some in the sand and water but not as much as I had expected. It was hot and I've never seen this stretch of beach so crowded. Wasn't long before they headed up to pool. Bothered me at first but as more people packed in I realized how hard it would have been keeping track of them if they had been running back and forth.
Several times I heard kids digging next to my chair. Turn expecting to see ours and it would be kids from neighboring group. Canadians in front of us speaking French. Women behind us discussing all the diets they've tried and failed with. Oh yeah. Great beach time.

Took a couple days for it to sink in. Last time we stayed at Ocean Club, Tighlman Beach and Golf Resort across the street had just been built. Maybe 20 people staying there. Now the place is packed. They need to unplug the "Golf" on their sign because it looks like all their guests are there for the beach.

It was entertaining to sit back and watch the circus. Group back over right shoulder pulled out a small pop up tent. As soon as it came out of bag the wind caught it and twisted it in a knot.
Half hour later I gave them another look. One of the women had worked herself into the tent to hold it up while others worked on spreading out the rods. How did the work? Not too good.
Fabric wrapped around the woman like shrink wrap and I think the job switched to rescue mission to get her out of the tent.
Still later.....Looked again. Four kids in the tent while adults pulled rods into place. When in place the kids would reach out from under tent to fill pocket anchors with sand. It worked. It was up. 15 minutes later they took it down because it was barely staying on the ground.

In between glances at that action I was watching the swimmers in the surf. Very strong southbound current. Knee deep you couldn't walk. Waist deep you were headed to Georgetown.
Many people got out in the four foot deep area. Bobbed up and down with the swells not realizing that with each swell they were moving 50 feet to the south.
Later on you would see same people walking back up the beach with "Is that our building?" dazed looks on their faces.

Couple trips back and forth between beach and pool before Stan and I made a run to Boulineau's for a few things. Forgot about it being Saturday. Mini version of WalMart on check in day. Buying a couple salads at deli we were able to check out our few items there and miss the long lines at main registers.

Ate dinner in before walking up to Dairy Hut by Boulineau's. Big surprise for the small kids. Their daddy couldn't stand seeing them leave for beach without being there. He and Joann's boyfriend split the gas cost, stole our toy car and headed to beach for two day joy ride. The kids were surprised when daddy walked over to the table.

Dozen calls to area motels. Not a room to be had. Checked at office. No problem. They gave us extra pillows and blankets so we crammed two more into one bedroom condo for the night. What the heck. It was just for one night.

Up early for walk. No takers so off on my own. Down to Main Street and back. More teeth and a couple small spirals and olives.

Wind not as bad as Sat. but still not umbrella friendly. Another day of beach and pool shuffle.

Check out was at 10 but since we were moving to another room they said we could stay where we were until the other one was ready. What they didn't bother to tell us was new fangled key card system is timed. At 10 oclock check out time our keys no longer worked. Not a major problem to correct but did cost us a few trips back and forth trying all the different cards we had before we figured it out.

In the new room around 2:00. Didn't have a balcony and for Ruann that is a big no no. Not the first time we've had one of these.
Small block of rooms at Ocean Club were converted to "deluxe" two bedrooms. The "deluxe" is they pushed walls out onto balcony giving you more floor space in living room and master bedroom. Debatable if it's an even trade off. Shrinking the walk-in closet to make larger master bath would have made it better.
Good news was it was second floor. Quicker to use stairs vs elevater but still high enough for great view of beach.

Kids ran out a few times during the day. They hit the new mirror maze on Sea Mountain. Hope it catches on because it sounds like it puts the Barefoot Landing maze to shame.

Dinner at Duffy's. Had my Pirate's Plate fix. Happy happy joy joy.........Ruann and I took Caleb back for bed while others hit the pier and another round of the maze.
