We will be coming down to MB this Friday from the upstate and just found out a race is going on in Darlington. We always go by the speedway and was wondering if anyone knows how the traffic situation will be near the track around noon Friday. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

What time does the race start? (My husband is a fan so I should know this, but he's not here to ask at the moment.)

If the race starts at or before noon you should be okay. If it's between noon and suppertime you'd better make alternate route plans. If it's an evening race (not sure if Darlington has lights or not) then I think you'd be okay around noon.

It's a Friday night Nationwide race (yep - they've got lights now!!)

I'd think traffic would be pretty heavy.

ETA:
Cup Happy hour practice is at 2:15pm with qualifying at 5pm
Nationwide race starts at 7pm

I'd guess traffic would be pretty steady until about 4pm - most fans tailgate a lot of the day. I know we got there around 11ish a couple years ago and had to wait in line to get into the parking lot.

That place gets more popular every year, and there will be heavy traffic. Here's the contact information if you want to give them a call to ask about traffic on the day you're planning to be here:

Thank you all for the input! We just found out we will be coming down with another couple, and they will do the driving. They have another route to bypass Darlington to avoid any traffic problems. Thanks again, and we'll see Myrtle in less than 48 hours! :ac15[1]:
