Me and my mom are seriously thinking about staying in Myrtle Beach somewhere for maybe 6 months. Say the beginning of October to the beginning of April. Maybe doing this till my dad actually retires in 5 or 6 years and we can move down perminatly. I was looking and say Myrtle Beach Resort does have monthy rentals for snowbirds. Also looking into Ocean Lakes rentals. We don't have to ocean front or that close but it would be nice. But I love the little studio at Myrtle Beach Resort but the bigger 1 or 2 bedroom at ocean lakes is nice but untill I call some of the owners at VRBo I don't know prices. I think we can handle 600 a month but if I could find a Apartment somewhere that would have 2 bed but not just 1 bed and a pull out couch even if it was on 501 or towards Surfside(which would be a plus as my brother lives there). All the floor plans on Rent or Apartments.com dont show if thier is one or two beds and thier studios have only one. Like I said the MB Resort studios have a queen and bunk beds which I could use the bottom ok. Any advice or anything about MB Resort and Ocean Lakes or renting somewhere else.

You should be able to find find some good deals through VRBO. In addition to VRBO, I've linked a couple other sources you might want to check out, You are lucky your brother lives here. I'm sure he'll be a big help in checking out vacations locations for you! I know you and your mother must be excited!

Lauren, you can check out the Ocean Lakes web site to do rentals directly through the campground. We did that a couple times. Of course, in the summer we paid about $1,200 for a WEEK rather than $600 for a month (and that was a 3 BR 2 BA house on the ground about three rows back from the ocean). You're looking at the off season so the rates should be better, but in a place like Ocean Lakes you have to find a place that the owner doesn't want to use during that time, which might be hard. All the rentals there are privately owned. You might want to check Pirateland and Lakewood, as I think they have some campground-owned places.
