Hi All..
Well folks we're ALMOST THERE! :nanner:

I am thinking of buying tickets to the Cirque show at the Palace. Has anyone seen the "real" Cirque du Soleil and can compare? The video preview on the website looks excellent and very similar. I go to Cirque du Soleil every tour, but it's too expensive to bring the kids, so this seems to be a perfect alternative. (Still pricey but less than half the price)

We'll be in MB from Aug 21-28 and I just looked at the bookings, for the Wed night show that week, and it's pretty much empty! (Ha I'm used to struggling to find seats for cirque du soleil a year in advance!) When I saw it that empty I started to question it.
Is this just because most people just go last minute?

That may be a big part, plus mid-late August is the start of the off-season as a lot of southern US schools are back in session. Sorry I can't comment on the show, haven't seen it (yet) !

The show was not even close to selling out each time we've gone. I think vacationers who have budgets, have so much to chose from in MB that the show gets over looked!
Anyway, the show is mostly Chinese acrobatics. We enjoyed it and so did our grandsons but I don't think it's anything like the Vegas shows! I've never been to the shows in Vegas though, so I really can't compare. JMHO :nanner:

Yeah I knew of course these are probably all the acrobats that didn't make the cut for the touring Cirque du Soleil (or possibly just didn't want to travel the world!). The promo video on the website looks very similar to CdS. I haven't been to Vegas (that would be incredible for sure! someday!) but the CdS always goes through Toronto so that's when I go. And tickets for that are $110 and sell out a year in advance. Niagara Falls has a Grand Cirque show as well, that comes and goes. it's here now till the 22nd and I looked out of curiousity and every show was sold out (for 4 ppl anyway)

So when I saw the seating map pretty much empty on the MB show I started to think hmm....

How long is the show?

The wife and I went to this in August when we were in MB. Out of Legends, Medieval, Dixie Stampede and Cirque, Cirque was easily the best of them all. I am not generally big into shows like this and overall tend to stay away from them. This one kept my attention the whole time and was a very well done show. You are not going to get much better than this in MB.

Yes we went and it was good. My family enjoyed it a lot more than I did, only because I have been spoiled by seeing Cirque du Soleil a few times. This of course raised my expectations a little too high. I tried not to go in with expectations but I guess I couldn't help it! Don't get me wrong though, it was a great show!! Just don't go in expecting a show of the same caliber.

Oh and don't get a seat near the front or aisle unless you are willing to take the chance of getting pulled up on stage by the clown guy!!

Tracy, funny that you mention that. My wife and I bopth got pulled up, it was pretty funny, but you are right about avoiding those seats if you have an issue with that.

My wife and I both got pulled on stage as well when we went last October. We were right in the front row and had no idea that it was coming. Definitely do not sit in the front row if you are shy.

It's been a couple of years since we went, but I would think that any seat in the house would be good. We sat in front row of the Orchestra section (row J), and really enjoyed the view. However, I think we would have been just as happy in the Mezzanine, because there was just so much to see!

ALSO important to note that we went to a Wednesday Matinee and saved money. The Wednesday 10:00 am show is at least $10 to $15 cheaper than the 8pm evening show. That's why we chose the Orchestra section. The show lasts about 2 hours, so we were out by Noon, had lunch, and were able to be back on the beach by 1pm. You might want to consider the Wed Matinee to save money.

Went to the show again this year and it was an all new show except 2 stunts and a few things the mime repeated. Everyone enjoyed it including teenagers (15,17,20,20,21) Three people had never seen the show before and they really enjoyed it.
