Ok I finally have a chance to sit down and write a trip report! This vacation flew by like a flash! All my days seem to run together, so instead of doing a day by day I am just going to make one general report with highlights. I also made a slideshow of the trip I will attemt to put link at bottom
We left WV after hubby got off work. I think we were on the road by 6:00 ish. My son got to take a friend for the first time. We have an Envoy, but my daughter sat in the 3rd row so we purchased on of the bags for the top of the car. Worked out well. Just packed everything in garbage bags in case we had rain. We arrived in High Point NC at 11:30. We usually stay in Asheboro...but I got brave and did a Priceline bid. What a mistake. Got a 3 star for $50 bucks(Courtyard by Marriott) but when I called to request 2 doubles they charged us a fee. It ended up be quite a bit more than I originally had reserved. :BandHead: Then in the morning we ate breakfast and was charged! So set up as the Quality Inn we usually stay at with the exception of a guy with a french accent keeping area clean. Never again! We try to stick to somewhat of a budget so we will be back at the Quality Inn in Asheboro(or somewhere) in the future.

We decided not to rush since we couldn't get in codo until 3:00. We decided for the first time ever to stop at South of the Boarder. We only went into the fireworks store. We bought 50 bucks worth. We brought about half home and the ones we let off were less than impressive. Took some fun pics in front of Pedro and a cactus.

Arrived at Elliott at 3:00 and was told condo was not ready. We neede to eat and planned to go to a returaunt from last year. We couldn't remember name and when we got there it was closed. Go figure. This is the first time we have rented through realty co. We usually go to the same cond through VBRO...but I had to change plans to accomodate cheer camp and couldn't get the week we needed. We hope to go through VRBO next year. We like having the keys on arrival and have gotten to know the owner. Our old condo was the same type of building and just 8 buildings down. Both have good and bad points. We were pleased with the condo though. We were on the third floor....so we did alot of step climbing throught the week. Guess that is good for us ...right?
We got in the condo and unpacked car. Went first thing to get the dreaded grocery store trip. This year on a whim we decided to do Kroger. So glad we did! It was a little more expensive than Wally World....but no lines whatsoever. I was shocked! It took no time to shop. I divided the list up and the teen boys were a great help! One good thing about the kids getting older I guess. Decided to just make a quick dinner in the condo and hang out at the beach for the rest of the evening. We were so glad to be settled in and at the beach.

Our weather was great. It was hot...but the breeze and water made it nice. Most of our meals we did in condo. I took a crock pot which is a time saver. We did eat at Seafarer. It was OK. Very clean and nice family atmosphere. Besides that we went had our annual night trip to Krispy Creme, and It's Sugar at Broadway.

We let the kids pick to things that they wanted to do. We always do a trip to putt putt. They chose to go to NASCAR Speedway and ride Go-Carts and Parasail. They had a blast doing both! My daughter wasn't ready for the carts, but did a jump thingy. I had scheduled parasailing a couple weeks prior to arrival. We were supposed to go on Tues. , but due to the wind and rough seas they kept rescheduling. Finally go to go on Thurs. I shouldn't say we. The two 13 year olds and my 9 year old went up. My hubby went out on the boat that took them to the "real boat". I wanted him to go and take pictures. That didn't happen because the camera broke on the way out and we go no pics. :???: Very aggrivating! Ended up at Best Buy to replace camera.
We also went to the Show "ONE." It was a good choice. We all really like the comedian! I had bought tickets before trip. Kids got in free with paying adults. Hubby was down and out..so I took the kids. Fun evening. I wanted to wal around Barefoot and watch fireworks but boys had other plans I wasn't aware of. They were eager to get back to condo to have a meet-up with some girls they started talking to on day 2. Ugg. I had to police this most of the week. How we found the condo with all the girls their age is beyond me. I'm just getting my feet wet in the teen years....so it was funny to watch the dynamics...and sometime it drove me crazy. Hormone are a wonderful thing.

We have friends that live in Conway...so we always get their kids a couple days since they have to work. They have a dughter the boys age so she fit right in with the crew that started hanging together. A couple of the girls got mad because the boys were talking to other people...drama etc. They were all pretty good kids and included the youget two. I think they all had a fun week meeting new friends.

When the last day arrived I felt like it had flewn by. Not exactly a relaxing vacation...but fun. I have a feeling I better get used to it with alot of teen years in front of me. I don't mind though because I hate the thought of them growing up and someday making the trip without them. :cry

Another great trip to Myrtle. I plan on coming back every year, but my hubby is not a beach fanatic so I never know really. We usually end up in Myrtle at some point. The ocean is just the most peaceful place that recharges me. I teach first grade and seems the more year I teach the more I need recharged.LOL

Here is my slide show link. I'm not sure if I should post it somewhere else on the board or not. I'm just so thrilled to have somewhere to post to!

I hope that works.
Another trip has come and gone! Thanks for reading. Your friend in Wild Wonderful WV Aimee

Aimee, I LOVED your slideshow. Have to admit I looked at it before reading your trip report. You got some really good pictures, and I had to smile at so many of them!

Oh yes...the teen years. But they don't last all that long. Before you know it, you'll be looking back at some really fun years of family trips together. It is obvious from your report, and the pictures, that all of you had a wonderful vacation, and family is what it's all about.

Thanks for sharing your vacation with us, and for taking the time to write this trip report.

I loved the slideshow! What a great way to show the fun you all had on your holiday. Aww yes the teen years. I did enjoy that stage except for the worry element.

Aimee, that was an INCREDIBLE slide show. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. Your daughter looks to be around the same age as my daughter, who will be 11 in a few weeks. Does Holly (saw her name in the sand, right?) do gymnastics? She's very limber and seems quite athletic.

Your family and your son's friend looked they were having an awesome time. The pics were just great.

So glad you liked the slideshow. So fun to do! Plan on doing this in the future. Thanks for the comments! I should have re-read and edited. So many mistakes. Two and to...yikes I hope my first graders don't see this. LOL Oh well ya get what ya get I guess unless I can figure out how to edit older post.
Holly does competitve cheerleading. She is quite the limber little thing! Its genetic. I tell her and my husband they are carnival freaks the way they can stretch their bodies. She is a beach fanatic like me. I can see so girl trips in our future:)

Just getting around to reading your report, aimee. Sounds like a fun vacation. I, too, teach first grade and the beach is my de-stresser, as well! I always wait untill August to visit so I can be ready to go back refreshed.

I could view the first pic of your slide show but not the entire show. It kept pooping up "may have been deleted." I consider myself technologically impaired so I probably am doing something wrong. I will try again this evening! Thanks for the report! My husband and I survived the teen years, although it was pretty "hairy" at times.

I enjoyed your report and your pictures very much. We saw the show "ONE" last year and agree that the comedian is hilarious. I have never booked anything through Priceline. Im not really sure how it all works and have just been afraid of the unknown. Your experience doesnt make me feel any more confident. Thanks for sharing your vacation.
