Hi!
I am a new member and just bought a small condo at the Palace!!

I'm coming down for the first 2 weeks in May, is there any chance at all that I can get in the water??!!?? When is the water warm enough for most people to be able to get in?

Welcome to our board, Boapy, and thanks for choosing to join us. Congratulations on your condo purchase! I'm sure you will enjoy the oceanfront!'

The average temperatures for May are 82° air, and an average ocean temp of 69°. We've been running a little low on temperature averages, and the winter was colder than usual. However, we've had some beautiful spring days, and I have already seen a few people in the ocean. I'm sure these people are from Canada or Alaska or somewhere way up North. My blood has thinned in the 12 years we've lived here, and I wouldn't dream of getting in the ocean until at least June or July. :clown:

Here's a link to my FAQ page. You'll find all the average temperatures there, along with some other frequently asked questions:

Again, I hope that I'm posting this in the appropriate place. My name is Karen, I am from a teenie-tiny small town in Eastern Ky. My husband and I have visited MB most years since 1976. I absolutely LOVE reading this msg. board, especially the Trip Reports, which seem to be a favorite of everyone. We have 2 sons, a wonderful D I L, 2 grandchildren and a niece that is the same as our daughter. We all love MB and have made so many special memories there. I am happy that I finally decided to join the board.

We're happy, too, Karen. And it's nice to have a real name instead of just a username. Thanks for choosing to be a part of our MB support team!

actually it's the Atlantica 1700 N. ocean Blvd. PH64. We have been there three times so far, and plan on being there the week of 13 July, and then back for the winter.
They are in the process of tearing down three of the old buildings in between the two atlantica buildings and are going to build a new building with a huge water park.

Hello everyone! I just found this forum, kind of by accident. I live south of Boston MA and am seriously thinking of making the move to Myrtle Beach. But honestly, I have no idea where to even begin. So this is my first step. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I am 47, single and have no kids. So I'm looking to rent an apt on or near the beach. Do they have furnished apt's? I am on disability from a car accident. Leg & back problems, but I am working part-time now as a cashier. I need so much information, I just don't even know where to begin! I'm hoping maybe I could get some help on this site. Thanks for reading.. now that I've babbled!

Joyce, welcome to our message board.

Renting before moving is the best idea. It will give you an opportunity to get acquainted with the area and with which part of the
Grand Strand would be right for you.

You can do a google search for 'Myrtle Beach furnished rentals.' Here are a couple to get you started.

The Sun News Click on "apartments" at the very top of the page.

Craig's list:
http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/

I don't know if you have visited Myrtle Beach in the past, but the entire 60 miles of coastline is often referred to as Myrtle Beach, when actually the city of Myrtle Beach has a population of just under 29,000 people. Our nearest town to the south of Myrtle Beach (3 miles) is Surfside Beach with a population of 4,000 and Garden City Beach with an estimated population of 12,000. To the north, we have the city of North Myrtle Beach whose population is around 14,000. All these towns or cities are located in Horry County which has a population of 289,0000. (You can live in parts of Horry Co. that are not in any cities.)

Please check the older posts in the re-location forum:
