Who knows much about Oceanside Village? I wasn't sure what category to put this under--is this place more of a community or a campground? I've found several nice looking places on vrbo for a good price & just wondering what kinds of experiences everyone has. Is this a huge place? Do you absolutely have to have a golf cart? Do the golf carts drive you crazy? I have 2 kids--one who will be only 4--will we be able to lug all of our gear to the beach? Most of the photos I've seen are of cute doublewides; the privacy is quite appealing--at the expense of an ocean view I guess. Can you see the water from some of the places? How are the pools & playground?

I don't think Oceanside Village could be categorized as a campground. Campgrounds generally have tents, trailers and motor homes that come and go. Oceanside Village has all homes, mobile homes, and stilt homes, I believe. I'm not sure which category most of the posts are in, but I do know there are several, as well as some trip reports from people who have stayed there. Good luck with your search! :)

We've stayed a couple of times at Oceanside Village and loved it there.
Matter of fact, if we hadn't bought our RV that we use at Pirateland, we'd still be staying at OV.

It is definitely NOT a campground. I have a couple of pictures taken around OV, but not a lot of what all is there. They have 2 pools (one inside one outside) a huge field where kids play, playgrounds, etc. They are located across the street from beach access and it has it's own crossing area with parking for golf carts or cars available.

GCs are great for riding around the community, going to the pools, riding across the road to the parking area for OV guests at the ocean access. I'd highly recommend getting one. They are not 'overrun' with carts as campgrounds are simply due to the fewer number of people in the community as compared to campgrounds,

It is a gated community and you can rent golf carts there. If you want one during busy times, I recommend you call ahead and reserve one. We've rented places there both through Rose Realty and also through VRBO. We've never been disappointed.

The first 9 pics under 'Oceanside Village' have some of the beach houses that you can see. They range in small mobile homes to large beach houses on Stilts. If you go to VRBO or Rose REalty's rental site, you can see all the different types of rentals available.

Thank you Barb for the pics! I really think my family would enjoy Oceanside Village. We're reluctant to give up an oceanfront view we might get with a condo or resort, but it looks so pretty with all the lakes and swans, etc. The privacy may be worth it. I found a few houses that actually do have a view, of course they are more $, so I don't know if we can afford that plus a golf cart. (My son would have to have a golf cart if everybody else has one!) Did you feel safe there? I know it's supposed to be gated, but my husband says he would feel safer in a resort--I'm not so sure. Anyway it's definitely not a campground! Thanks, Kim

We felt very safe there. A lot of the people there are year round residents so they are 'regulars'. Just my opinion, but I'd feel safer in the gated community than a resort. It just doesn't have that 'crowded' feeling that I get with large resorts. Of course, I'm also the kind who likes to stay at the Mom and Pop small motels too.

Part of the fun my kids enjoyed were the GC rides - we'd go cruising around the community just for fun. We're a rather 'laid back' family so that is relaxing and enjoyable to us.

I guess we will have to pass on Oceanside Village this year , just more than we can afford. We will try it sometime though! I found a great deal on a condo at Forest Dunes thats more in our price range. VRBO rocks! :nanner: Thanks for the info!
