What is you opinion on Farmstead and Meadowland?

I'm a hack so by no means qualified to comment accurately, but I've played both and enjoyed them. Meadowlands is touted as a "woman friendly" course... not sure what that means. Was certainly challenging enough to me without being overbearing.

Farmstead is better maintained, and that Par 6 is worth the trip alone (I double bogeyed, I'll take that as a win !). The course meanders into South Carolina on the back 9, so if you partake of beer, you need to purchase on the NC side as they don't have a SC beer/wine license.

If your a scratch golfer they may not be the most challenging, but I enjoy them (shoot ~110).

Kirk,

Thanks for your info! Our group of 12 guys' handicaps range from 9-33 so we try to accommodate everyone. Breakers suggested that Farmstead/Meadowlands would make a good double day... Sound like we should start with Farmstead as our AM choice... We also like easier courses for the 1st day....

Thanks again!

Some other good first day courses are Myrtle Beach National West and Wizzard. No housing on either course and pretty forgiving for high handicappers.

Both are good non surcharge golf courses. Very well maintained. I would definitely suggest playing both golf courses, great value.

Hubby is a full member. People like Farmstead for it's par 6 18th hole. From the white tees, it's a 671 yd hole. Because of this, the course is popular. Also half of the couse is in NC and half is in SC. Liqour laws in each state make this course unique. you can only buy them on certain holes from the cart girl. It's a pretty course with nice challenges. Meadowlands is the course we live on. Water is the main challenge.
