I have been staying at Myrtle Beach Travel Park for 15 years, mainly a couple of weeks in August. My daugher wants to be a cheerleader and practice starts in August, MBTP has no reservations for July so I checked the Lakewood and scheduled 12 nights in July starting the 16th.

My question is will I be satisfied with Lakewood and what can I expect?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks everyone!

We love MB, visit every year for at least 2 weeks. I was having withdraws earlier when I thought we wouldn't be able to make our summer trip.

I guess we'll just "embrace" thed golf-cart issue!

Golf Carts aint as bad at Lakewood as they are at Ocean Lakes. At Lakewood you can still get a car on the strip of the campground at night if ou wanted to go to the pool or something. Now holidays may be different though.

GREAT on the golf cart issue! We were on our way back from Disneyworld and stayed at Ocean Lakes for a night, I hated dodging golf carts when I walked down to the beach.

Our reservations are from July 16th to July 28th, three children, 16, 12 & 8 (daughter in the middle of 2 sons). I'm looking forward to trying a new campground, but after 13 Years at MBTP, we're use to "our" routine.

Camping has been fun for us as a family and we do travel our fair share. Started in a tent but after the late July/arly August of 1999, we moved on to a TT. Myrtle Beach and Ft. Wilderness at Disney are our favorite places to go. This past summer, we left MBTP and drove on down to Disney, which was a blast.

As I sit here and watch it snow, I look forward to summer!

We have stayed at Lakewood many times and have enjoyed our visit. We have camped and stayed in one of the villas. Our girls have met great friends that they still keep in touch with. We actually love the golf cart cruises - very relaxing in the evening. The pool is great and the beach speaks for itself. Last summer we found some great shells on the beach. Many activities for kids - so look forward to hearing about your vacation.

Thanks for all the great feedback! We may have to "embrace" the golfcart issue and rent one for ourselves. MBTP does not allow carts for guests who do not have annual sites so we have always rode bikes or walked (which was fun).

I did a review of Lakewood vs. Ocean Lakes, if you care to review it:

Dawne,

Thanks and I did read it, was very informative!

I guess my biggest issue is I have never stayed anywhere but MBTP (except for 1 night at Ocean Lake a couple of years ago).

I have always felt golf carts didn't belong with camping, but that's just me and i don't impose my thoughts on the subject to others

We stayed at MBTP one time about 15 years ago, in the off season (probably February) and it was practically deserted. I barely remember it so I can't compare it with Lakewood or Ocean Lakes. If I remember correctly, they had those little pavilions on the sites so we couldn't roll out our awning, which was annoying.

Yep, we use it for our hammock! The sites on the North side of the campground allow for slides and awnings, the South end can sometimes be tight.

I can see where February would be deserted.
