I know that there are many of these in other areas of the country now, but it is special to get to make one at the beach every year. My 12 and 15 year olds made one last year for the 1st time and they absolutely loved it! I wish I had started that tradition years ago. My now 16 year old has already mentioned going again this year. One hint: go during the day. Last year we stopped at BATB on our way home. That was a great last treat for them.

When we were there this year, I couldn't believe how long the line was at Build A Bear. I am so glad my boys are too old for that. I don't know which line was longer Build A Bear or Margaritaville. Build A Bear should have call ahead for priority stuffing!

Heck im a 15 year old boy and even i like babw. But the lines do get kinda intense unless your going in to just buy cloths and not make a bear.

When we were there the line was long - but if you are going to " Friends 2 B Made" the doll part I don't think that you have to wait in line. I wish I had known that or we would have made dolls instead of bears.

We've been very lucky both years that we have gone to BAB. If you go early in the day, the lines are pretty decent. Also, if the line is really long when you first get there, walk around and check back, because oftentimes, there will be a huge line, and then suddenly, no one.

It's definitely worth the wait, though!! While you are in line, you can decide on a sound, if you want one, and think of the perfect name since you will be making a birth certificate!

We were very lucky when we went to Build A Bear a little over a week ago. I had heard about the long lines and told my daughter we would probably just go in and buy a Myrtle Beach t-shirt for her bear at home, but when we got there, only one family was in front of us. She ended up making a new bear. By the time we were leaving, the line was out the door.

we usually try to do both teddy town and bab while we're down there and bab is DEF easier to hit early in the am or LATE in the evenings~my 2yr old has no patience for lines and inevitably the gal that does the tattoos will be nearby somewhere and my 4yr old daughter will want a huge flamin skull drawn all over here while we stand and wait! LOL! but we've done it every year for about 4 years now and it's so much fun! i love for the kids to have that to take home and remember our trips!

Ok , I dont have any children so I have never had the BABW experience but a lady at work asked me what it cost to go in and build a bear ? Her daughter wants to go there when they come down in September and I told her I was not sure ....... I'm sure it can get as pricey as you let it , but as I said I dont know I have never been so any info you may have is appreciated . Isnt there a couple more of these now , like build a friend or something ? I saw one on tv while we wre there last week saying they have Sketchers and Limited Too clothes ?????? My goodness !

All of my kids built their bears and dinos (Build A Dino) for around $25. This was with a set of clothes and using the $5 off coupons out of one of the free guides. Most of the animals run between $15 and $20 and the clothes are between $7 and $10. Hope that helps you.

My daughter did build-a-bear but she did a monkey. It's started around $12 or $20, and went up from there. We bought an outfit and did some minor upgrades and I think it was around $45 or so.

My son went in a different door and did build-a-dino. His with outfit was just a bit cheaper, and there was no line to wait there.

They also have an area where you can build a doll. In another location at Broadway you can build a car. I think any of these have the potential of costing around $50 or more, but you can go cheaper. Also, the Monster Coupon Book usually has a $5 off coupon so look for that and save some money!

My daughter did an actual bear -- the velveteen bear, oh, so soft. It had hiking boots, hiking shorts, a camo fleece pullover and with the coupon, I think it was around $35. Kind of a strange choice for a girly girl, but she was 2 at the time and she liked the boyishness of it.
