Where was your favorite place to stay in The Grand Strand (South/North or in between)..
and why. And would you stay there again?

I would say our favorite place to stay was at The Sea Watch Resort My kids loved all the pool games, especially "limbo" poolside. The DJ was great and always entertaining the kids. Hubby and I were able to get a frozen drink at the Tiki hut and relax by the pool And the best part was the beach. I remember how nice and wide the beach was there especially at low tide. We would love to go back there again. Such great memories in Myrtle Beach !!

We stayed at St Clements, a part of the Caravelle, up on 70th street for 16 years until we moved here. A semicircle hotel with only 7 floors and 56 rooms, it seemed almost private. The hotel jutted out very near the beach and the room had a wall of windows looking out on the ocean, giving you the feeling you were sitting directly over the water. The rooms were not the most modern, but that only added to the "beach house " feeling.

It was also up on 70th street, away from all the hubbub downtown and close to restaurant row. We were able to take advantage of all the activities, pools and concierge of the Caravelle. Going down to the same place that many years you got to know others that owned or just happen to rent the same week as you making it feel even more homey.

We moved down by Surfside Beach three years ago now so we don't venture up that way too often. When we have it stills seems to look the same, but we often wonder if the people are the same or have they also moved on. Three years is a long time in hotel time, everything can change.

We used to stay on the high avenues in MB proper when I was growing up. It's been so long I can't remember the name. Might of been ocean dunes or sand dunes. Don't know if those have been around that long. I remember coming into the beach on the bypass and all the bypass had was trees going down both sides. It was actually a true bypass back in those days . Couldn't wait until dad would make a right to turn down toward the ocean. Moved down to Surfside /Garden City area when we got older. Stayed at Royal Garden and Waters Edge one year.

Don't really have a favorite that stands out. Spent very little time in the room or using hotel amenities. Just glad to be at the beach and could pretty much sleep anywhere. I could spend a week on an air mattress at the beach and be happy.

North Beach Plantation and almost anything Barefoot Resorts has to offer. When I was younger we liked One Ocean Place in Surfside, and Mar Vista Grande in NMB.

For a resort we like Compass Cove and Coral Beach...not fancy...but suits our needs...but most of the time we like rentals in Surfside Beach...We stayed at Cafe Mocha for several years...but it was too big when the kids grew up and did not always come with us...we have done several condos...most nicely updated...Next summer we are staying in a small house...no pool...but 2nd row so close to the beach...we all decided we wanted to go back to a house rather than a condo. We rent through Old Colony Realty. They have always treated us great.

We always stay on Shore Drive. Shore Drive being a dead end keeps the traffic down. It's rather equal distant between Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing. We have many favorite places close to Shore Drive including: Ocean Annie's, Bimini's, The Apcahe Pier, Flip Flop's, etc.

Hope to see them all again in 2018 or 2019.

My parents and I stayed at Sea Winds when I was growing up. My parents had a condo in the Carolina Winds building and it was always rented whenever we went to the beach (last two weeks in August) so we started staying at Sea Winds for as long as I can remember. I loved that building. The condo we stayed in was on the 6th floor and I always had a big room to myself. I spent most early mornings on the beach playing in the sand and making friends. I always spent an hour or two in the pool before heading up to the condo for lunch. There used to be an arcade up the street that my dad and I would walk to sometimes to play pinball or air hockey. It was down the street from Barefoot Landing and many of the restaurants we went to were so close. For the past 9-10 years, we've stayed in Carolina Winds. It's quiet, the beach isn't too crowded, and it's very close to Broadway at the Beach. My parents have since sold their condo and we're looking for a place to stay when we come down to the beach in September/October. I keep suggesting Sea Winds for old times' sake!

Not sure if it's our favorite place to stay, but since we have a bazillion dollars invested there now, Sheraton Broadway Plantation :clown: ! Wish it was on the beach, but they do have security and it's gated!

When we first started traveling here as a couple we stayed at Landmark Resort. I bet we stayed there 6 or 7 times. They have one of the best outdoor set ups around. As time went on, the area started to feel less and less safe, and once we had the kids, the rooms we needed were not as nice, most are privately owned and many weren't taken care of or updated, so we moved on. We did like Compass Cove and Coral Beach, but thought both are pretty expensive for what they offer. Caravelle has had by far the nicest rooms for the money that we have ever stayed in. We weren't crazy about the pool set up, but always met nice people and the staff was great. The last 5 years we have stayed in Shore Drive and we love it. We stay at Sands Ocean Club. We love having Ocean Annie's and River City Cafe right in the hotel. It's been our favorite place by far. To clarify, we have always rented through VRBO, so I can't vouch for the rooms run by the hotel itself.

Marriott won Best of the Beach 2017.

I made a web page for best of the beach which contains most of the tourist-related winners. There's also a link to the entire list.

We like that location. You are not far from us in the Market Common District. Love all the things that go on there all summer long.

Since we have a young son, we really enjoy the waterpark and everything Dunes Village has to offer. We love the location in the quieter northern area of Myrtle Beach. It has become our go to spot for spring break.

I've heard Dunes Village has a lot of child-friendly amenities!

P.S. If you will send me the original picture you're using as your avator, I would be glad to take a crack at sizing it to fit better:
