Not the best of timing for the city. As much as I hate to admit it the city really does have some sections you might need to "stay away" from. With the increased police presence in the area you would think that police would of intervened when the large group started to disrupt the flow of traffic . It can happen anywhere but not a good start to the prime vacation time. Prayers to those injured.

It is a shame. We will be there next week, and I have to tell you, we won't be anywhere near that area of town. We stopped going to the boardwalk area several years ago when the crowds got so unruly we didn't feel safe with the kids down there. We may go to Broadway at the Beach one or two nights, but are always gone by 9, and we head back north. I know it happens everywhere, but this is getting out of hand. The police were blocking the road way back behind that crowd, they all should have been arrested for blocking traffic like that. I don't know what the answer is, but as much as we love Myrtle Beach, I have to say, I have said more than once this year that we may have to think long and hard about next year.

We have probably not stepped outside of the car in the downtown area in almost a decade. Just not the best area in MB and hasn't been in a long while. We do take yearly drives down the boulevard for memories but even those will probably be coming to an end. I always carry a pistol when traveling and with the way things are progressing right now I'm not sure that I would travel some areas without it. We use Robert Grissom Parkway all the time and some crazy stuff has been known to happen in that area around the 501 intersection.

I know every area needs some sort of economy area for people to stay, but maybe getting rid of some of those places will keep these people out of there. The city also did this to themselves, the boardwalk seems to have brought nothing but trouble in. I remember the first time I went to it a prostitute tried to get me to go somewhere with her and there were homeless sleeping on the benches. We always stay in NMB, but the city needs to clean up or people who actually spend money are going to stop coming.
