Hey everyone....

What are everyone's thoughts on Huntington State Park. We have never been and are thinking of going this year. Would the kiddos like? (ages 8 and 11)

Thanks :)

We buy the State Park pass every yar, so we go there often. I think you would like it. There is a an Education Center. (Come in the entrance, drive down until the road splits, take a left and it will be on your left.) Hands on petting the string rays, identifying birds calls, lots of other things for young people and there are employees around to answer questions.

There are two entrances to the beach with ample parking and lots of tables for picnicking. The ocen is wider than MB State Park.

Question,
for 1st trip back in many years, My wife and I plan to stay at the Courtyard Marriott using points and going to the Myrtle Beach and Huntington state parks for our beach time. Are there showers for daytrippers to utilize at Huntington? Reason being, it's easier to take a shower there then go to one of the local restaurants before getting back to the hotel

I don't think either of the State Parks offer full showers for people not staying on their campgrounds. However, there are plenty of shower stands at the beach outlets.. They usually have 2 faucets...one at the top for a full shower and one near the bottom for feet.

Just so you know before you go....

The Educational Center at Huntington Beach State Park burned to the ground last year. Wally and I were there just last week and the the area has been cleared out...now just a flat patch of ground. It will be rebuilt but I don't have a timeline.

Here's some information:
