Thursday night:
Home in time to run monster dog to vet. Minor surgery while we're gone then they'll board him for week. Beats worrying about stitches.
Senior citizen dog is daughter's responsibility while we're gone.
Cut what's left of dry grass in yard. Quick run to WallyWorld.....
Done for night. Will pack clothes in morning on the way out of house.
Maybe.........

Game plan is.....
Work programmed bio-clock will have me up at 5.......I'll pack while she does her thing......On road by 6........
Yeah...... Right........

Friday:
Apparently bio-clock has a snooze feature.
One eye, in between dream, glance at clock. 4:00....
Time for one more dream. Shut the eye.
Must have been a double feature.....
Woke up at 5:50...........

Returning from May trip we had worst flea infestation in history. Not this time. Walked out of house backwards treating it with enough "stuff" to alert EPA......
I don't care. There had better not be any fleas when I get back.....
Hit road at 7:30......

Mile from house....
Hey..... I forgot to pack lap top....
I'll do stuff on phone.....
Turnpike...
The sunscreen wasn't in beach bag.....
Oh yeah.....
It's in kayak and toy car....
Gonna be a long week......

Uneventful trip. Couple heart stopping speed trap cops hitting lights just as I passed......
I don't care how old you are or how safe you drive.....
That will scare the crap out of ya.........

Arrived Cherry Grove 4:00..
Luckily they gave me heads up when booking....
Towers on Grove was planned and built right before the economy bust several years ago..
Units didn't sell as expected...
Wyndham..... You know my friends at Wyndham.....
bought it....
Kinda/sorta bought it...
Some units were bought by individuals..
Another part is tied into Prince Resort up by the pier.....
Wyndham guests check in at Towers....
Others up at Prince Resort....
Our two day booking is through Prince. Then on Sunday we check in with Wyndham......
Can't make this stuff up......

Little excitement on elevator. Maintenance was there trying lock down one of the four. Some confusion about which one was acting up.....
Maintenance guy got on the one they decided was good along with the two of us and another woman.
Eight floors up....
BANG!!!!!!!!Not what you want to hear on an elevator......
Stopped dead....
Guess what? We were in the bad one....
Recording was telling us there was a problem....
Duhhhhh.........
Maintenance guy is turning keys and on radio to guy downstairs......
Me..... Being me.....,
Said no problem....
We had beer and snacks on the cart....
If all else failed we could eat the maintenance guy......
Guess that hit a nerve......
Next thing we knew we were at our floor....

Walked up to the pier. Back down to Boulieneaus for sun screen. Used book store for three Patterson books. $13.....
Then Basil's.....
Waiting for food Ruann looked up and saw coworker Ruthie and husband. They joined us for dinner..
Ruthie reads the board but doesn't post.....
Hey Ruthie...... I'm talkin bout ya......

Back to the Towers. Out on beach watching full moon up over he pier....
Great Kodak moment but....Phone was in room.....

Bit long winded with this one.....
I'll describe the building on a boring day.......

Laughed my way through your post. Glad you're here.

>...I don't care how old you are or how safe you drive.....That will scare the crap out of ya...
Amen. Even when I know I am not exceeding the speed limit, I immediately start wondering what ELSE I might have done to cause the cops to follow me.

Saturday:
Bio-clock back in gear.Up before sun. 6:00 am. Sitting next door at city park typing yesterday's trip report looking like some street person.
Around 9:00 we walked across street to Atlantis for breakfast. Good. Maybe not as good as Golden Griddle but can't beat the convenience of short walk.
Headed to the beach around 10:30 to get this show started. Set up camp. Read. Napped.

Little after noon walked down to Ocean Drive looking for Buckeyes. Found some under large faded Buckeye canopy. Not the ones we were looking for but would bet money the two groups will meet and will be doing the O-HI-O dance before the week is over.

The walk to OD from CG seems to be getting longer ever year. Pretty tired when we returned to camp. Needed another nap.
Spent afternoon doing what we do best. People watch.
Saw an afternoon wedding on our walk. Some people pulled umbrellas from cars for shade. Two women were huddled under one small one. One of those dome shaped ones you can hold down over your head.
Funny thing was. It was clear plastic. SPF-0.
Wish I had it on video. One woman was looking up at it and I think by look on face.
She was about to figure it out.

Couple next to us. All brand new gear. Umbrella anchor had a slide hammer that slid along pole hammering the base into sand.... Bang, bang, bang.....
Umbrella up. Then he digs a hole to drive another pole into it to tie rope to it to hold umbrella.....Tied cooler to that post.....
Removed shoes before stepping onto sheet... Then socks.... Then pants.... Scared me at first but he had trunks under the pants....Shirt... Dusted sand off legs....
Turned to squat down to ground..
Wife rolled over....
Didn't want the umbrella up........

Third one. Ruann pointed this one out to me. And I got caught looking.
Two camps away. Four women. One very, very, well endowed gal.
I'm talking first glance I thought her top was upside down there was so much over the top......
She had cup. Not a shot glass. A CUP!!!!! In her cleavage as her friend poured her a drink.
Again. I got caught looking....

Returned to room late afternoon. Marriage twilight zone.
She didn't want anything big for dinner. Quick. Easy. Not dress up.
No problem.
Phone had been plugged in all day. Text from Jan. Dinner at 6:00 in MB with Kay and Vickie. We were invited. It was 5:52. Not going to happen. Texted "maybe next time".
Then it happened. "She's" running around getting ready. I'm not getting ready fast enough.
"We might not get to eat with them but we can talk and eat later..."
What just happened?
Long story short.
2 1/2 hours of traffic and frustration....
Never caught up with others....
We ate at Chik-Fila.....

Back in time to watch full moon on the beach.
Moving day tomorrow....

Sunday:
Moving day. Hard to get motivated knowing we have to pack and unpack. Not sure how dealing with two separate desks in two separate buildings will work out.
Couldn't have worked any better. Called Prince desk and got a late check out time.1:00pm
Check in at Towers desk is 4:00. They took info and made notes. Would do everything possible to help.
Went to smoking gazebo where Ruann socializes with like minded folk.
Told her what was going on. Phone rang. We had a new unit.
Moved and on beach before noon.

Boring beach day. Walked to pier. Read and napped. Nothing interesting to write about.

Haven't been to store except for snacks. Two birds one stone. Walked to Boulineau's. Can walk there faster than getting truck out of parking building.
Ate at deli/cafeteria..Don't knock it til you try it.
I went with salad bar. My mistake was bought it to go as I usually do. $5.99per pound. Eat in is $7:99 all you can eat. Fruits, soups, deserts.....
She had turkey and dressing. Wish I had taken picture. I would have had trouble eating the mound of meat, dressing, tators and gravy piled on her plate.
Needed a to go box..

Being on foot. We had cloth shopping bags. Buying light we only filled one bag.

Spent the evening with the gazebo social club. Fun meeting new people. We're not the only Wyndham owners with complaints. Even the ones who have upgraded to massive amounts of points and jobs with tons of travel time.
Have problems with the operation.

Monday:
Up for sunrise but there wasn't one. Very overcast.
Not sure exact time it hit but wicked thunder storm rolled through. Flashes of lighting. Thunder shook building. Didn't see it but heard several say lighting hit the water.

Needed a day off beach. Back was little red. Not terrible but didn't need to add to it.

Decided it was good time to do the sales meeting. Was actually looking forward to it because rumor has it there's a new program for leaving Wyndham.

Long story short. We're still in same boat we were in and I doubt they'll call me back in again for awhile......

Couple hours of sun in afternoon. Played it safe and sat by pool. Think it's hotter there without the breeze.
Embarrassed Ruann with my snoring.
I live for those moments.....
Another storm blew through. They close pool in those conditions.

Around six headed to Barefoot for dinner. Had planned on River City.
Between rain and line of tour buses ......waiting for a table was out of question. Other options same thing ...
Headed for Logan's. No line. No wait. Steak and ribs. Easy on wallet. No complaints.....

Tuesday:
Another overcast morning. I walked down to Main Street while she slept in. Looking for Buckeyes again. Found out later they couldn't get a unit in their usual building and were down in MB.

Back for regular egg sandwich before hitting beach. Between mid-day high tide and clouds not the best beach conditions.
But....Gotta do what ya gotta do........
Hit the beach....

Meet up at 6:00. Off beach early to get ready. Heading out ran by book store for more books. Created a monster with Ruann. She can make a romance novel last all week. She's going through Patterson's faster than I am.....

Meet up was fun. "Help I've fallen" showed up without her walker. She's a stubborn ol' gal.
Kay and Vickie got lost on the elevator. Just a regular night with the Funbeaches gang.....

Wednesday:
More of the same. High tide and clouds. Still hit beach.
Only observation today was a guy fishing. Two poles and was pulling them in pretty regular.
Then a stretch of catching stingrays. No big deal. Obvious he knew what to do. Drug them onto beach. Arranged tail. Flipped it over. Remove hook. Flip it back. Let people look. Drag it back into surf.....
Second time some guy from down the beach ran up yelling. "Nooo!!!! Don't touch it.....Don't grab the tail......You're going to get hurt.....Noooo!!!!!!
Fisherman ignored him. Went about his business and released it. No problems.
Know it all walked back down beach mumbling how the guy didn't know what he was doing....

Evening we drove down to Surfside for a mini meet up. Dinner with Kay, Vickie, Jan and Mike. Southside Grill. Small hole in wall place. Looks like a bar but it has great food. Mike and Ruann ordered porkchops. Look on their faces when they saw their plates. Huge servings.
Another great time.

Heading back up river we stopped in MB.
Walls of resort have pictures of NMB in the 50's-60's....Photographer is Jack Thompson. 55 years of MB photos....Gallery on 9th Ave north.
Web site says open til 9. Red "open" sign was on. Lights on. Dog in window.......
Locked up....
Looking in window could see some neat pictures...
One in window....Actually two. One is arial shot of Pavilion area. 1926. Below it. Same shot.... While Pavilion was up and running.
Maybe next trip we'll try again.

Thursday:
Same, same, same......
Beginning to think I have "NMB info" stamped on my forehead.....
All week......
Ruann pulled two of her social club members back to unit. Five crazy women from PA....They were looking for Chinese restaurant. Really had know idea but there's an app for that... Found them one...

One of my walks a guy was studying storm drain pipe....Flagged me down...He was very much relieved to hear it was storm water and not sanitation....Even explained they were extending them on out into surf and every few years replace sand on beach...

One lady saw my Cherry Grove shirt and asked.
"Where is Cherry Grove?"
I explained the beach sections and NMB.....
"Oh.... I just thought it was someplace to go...,"
Not sure what she was thinking....

Guy next to us on beach. From Wheeling.
Lot like us. Not comfortable with the large dining options. Wanted seafood but the large buffets were ridiculous.
He'd been seeing people slowly moving along beach looking for "shells". Saw me doing it...He never knew about sharks teeth....Now he's looking and....
Leaving Duffy's after we ate dinner... He and his wife were going in.....
My mission is complete.....
Almost....
One more boring day.......

Friday:
The dreaded last day. High tide due at 2:00 pm. We were on beach before 11:00 to get every last minute possible.
Set up just below high tide mark while most people above it.
High tide we let it flow under us. No problem.
Entertainment for the day was small 3 year old girl enjoying first beach trip. Kept everybody in stitches.

Weather perfect. Odd but perfect. Over the beach and out over water. Blue skies and white puffy clouds.
Over shoulders. Inland. Dark clouds. Like that all day. Like invisible wall along RT 17 separating the two.
Around 4:00 it did start to sprinkle and slowly increased to send us in little before 5:00.
So long beach.

Walked to Basil's for last meal of trip. Duffy's night we crossed paths with the PA golden girls. While eating at Basil's they walked up. They're learning fast the benefits of staying near Sea Mountain.
Ruann told them we'd be going to Dairy Hut later for evening treat.
ICE CREAM!!!!!!!
They'd been there a week and hadn't noticed the ice cream shop hid over behind The Barnacle.

Couple packing trips to truck loading for home. Half hour rain shower. Ruann calls them and I found myself escorting a group of ladies out for ice cream.

They're from Lancaster. I mentioned Gettysburg and ghost tours. They're ready to meet us there sometime......

Saturday:
On the road at 6:30.
Easy trip home. Hour faster than drive down.
Home couple hours and Wyndham survey pops up on e-mail.....
Had a blast with it........

Thank you for sharing your trip. I always enjoy your reports with your great sense of humour. The weather sounded like it wasn't the best with a lot of cloud cover but a day at the beach still beats all options. Loved the Cherry Grove t-shirt story.

Yup, that's our Myrtle Beach. A little strange at times, but it's OUR little strange beach and we wouldn't have it any other way. :sunny:
