How many of you wait until the last minute to pack for your vacation? Every year I say I'm going to begin packing weeks in advance, but here I am, two days away from leaving and nothing is in the suitcase yet! I think I wait because I feel like I need to do it all at once or I'll forget things once I stop.

Hubby has had all of the beach stuff pulled out of storage and waiting to go in the car for days now, and I've had all of our meals prepped and frozen (we eat in a few nights and I hate cooking while on vacation) but as far as clothes, I've done nothing :dontknow:

Anyway, is it just me?

Super excited...only two more sleeps until we leave!

Might depend on how frequently you visit Myrtle Beach....

Our first few trips, I packed early (and often). Ended up bringing WAY too much. I then kept a container in the basement labeled "Myrtle Beach Stuff" which had the common items for the trip. Now I just load up the container, beach chairs/umbrella, and pack clothes the day before.... away we go !

But... we don't bring food down, I can imagine that creates a whole new level of planning.

i normally pack ahead but it does not do me much good because I end up hunting for something and have to repack! This year we are attending a wedding in PA a few days before the beach trip...so beach packing will be after that...i will likely forget something...but if I do and it is a necessity...I will buy it when we get to the beach!

We do a Caribbean beach vacation every year and I start packing a week ahead. I lay my list of what to take by the suitcase and check off items as I pack. Unlike road trips, what I take depends on the weight of the suitcase. And yes, I weight it several times during the packing process.

On the other hand, Wally's suitcase is never in danger of being overweight. He even lets me borrow some of his space if I need it. And it's his suitcase that will contain any souvenirs we bring home - from t-shirts and jewelry to a bottle of rum. Unlike me, he doesn't refer to a list, never forgets anything and usually does all his packing last minute - late the night before we leave.

That is too funny...sounds like Terry...always waits until the last second to pack...and has room to spare!

Going anywhere except MB we usually just pack at most a night or two ahead. Don't know why, but the MB trip is just different. We start packing days ahead for it. Anticipation is much higher for MB, like to start the process earlier.

Doing good so far...got the suitcase packed earlier today (and I'm sharing mine with my six year old to cut down on luggage). My 15 year old packed last night, and hubby is putting all of the beach stuff in the van now. Just have to get the last minute things together tonight and pack the cooler when we get up. Hoping to leave about 3:30am. Cannot wait to get my toes in the sand!

When I was a little kid I remember trying to back my bag as far out as two weeks before we left as I'd get super pumped about leaving. Now, I might slowly start doing it 2-3 days before we leave. I still manage to forget things as well. The only food we bring are some random snacks, and other foods for the baby.
