Been trying to figure out a solution to a problem when I realized some of the members of this board may have some good suggestions. You might remember that my husband and I live here in Pigeon Forge, TN. We have been in this area almost 30 years. About a month ago my husband decided he did not want to live here any longer and wanted to be permanently at the beach. Well how could I be too angry as in the back of my mind I always figured if anything ever happened to him I was out of here and at some beach somewhere. Of course Myrtle Beach has always held a special place in my heart. Bare in mind that we are not spring chickens as we are both in our early seventies To make a long story short he is already living at the beach. We rented a condo at Plantation Resort for two months (that is how long it was available for). That will take us through the end of May. We have also rented a house at Surfside Beach for the six months beginning in October through March 2017. If we can fill in the gap of the months June through Sept. 2016 that will give us a year to get our act together. We just want to rent for now as we do not want the stress of home ownership again right now. . We probably should have found a place for a years lease but we did not, so are going to try and work through this with what we have already arranged. I know it is going to be extremely difficult to come up with something for those four months during the busiest time of the yearl Our goal is to try to not go over $1500. a month. I know that sounds ridiculous when that is what people pay for a week in a hotel room. We are open to any ideas at all for those four months including campgrounds, mobile home parks, seedy motels ??, etc. I am still stuck here in TN, working and taking care of business. I did make a quick trip down this past weekend and plan on being there again the weekend of the 15th. I know this all sounds crazy but there was no changing my husbands mind or changing the fact that he wanted to do it immediately. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'll just throw Barefoot Resorts out there. There's so many different units back there that something should be available if you act quick.

Judy, the months you are looking at are coming into "the season." If you can't find what you're looking for at your price, you might try Conway or other outlying areas.

Have you checked the Sun News?
http://www.apartments.com/myrtle-beach-sc/

Or maybe VRBO - Vacation Rental by Owner.

I know Myrtle Beach Resort has senior citizen rates
http://www.myrtle-beach-resort.com

Cheap hotels in Myrtle Beach:
http://www.hotels.com/de1432992-qu0/che ... -carolina/

You might check AARP for Sr. discounts:
https://www.expedia-aarp.com/Myrtle-Bea ... ide-Hotels
http://www.oceanaresorts.com/specials/a ... nd-senior/
http://local.aarp.org/myrtle-beach-sc/

Please let me know what you've already checked out. I feel like I might be giving you redundant information.

Thank you budwash435 for your suggestion. As always Patrish you have the answers. I appreciate all the information you have provided all these years. I have been checking The Sun News and VRBO. The idea to check for AARP or other senior discounts is a good one. I had not thought of that and also since my husband is retired military I could check for military discounts. I am coming up with a few options under VRBO but only for periods of time of about three weeks each. I guess we may be gypsies this summer. Hope that is politically correct to use that term. Crazy thing in all the months we have spent in Myrtle Beach in the past 15 or so years we have only been there in the summer for part of one day. We may be in for a big shock. I have tried Expedia also but not any success for this long of a period. In my dreams I think there must be someone going to Europe or somewhere for the whole summer who wants to sublet their apartment. In reality that is probably not going to happen. I am confident I will figure something out. There is something called Airbub or something like that but I think it is mainly for a few nights. Patrish, I remember all those years ago when you checked out the house on 7th avenue for us. We ended up staying there for 5 or 6 consecutive years. Thanks again for all you do.

Thanks for your kind comments, Judy. I appreciate it very much.

Your mention of Airbnb reminded me that I had seen an article mentioning this not long ago. Fortunately my somewhat untrustworthy brain kicked in and I remembered:

Please keeps us informed as to how it works out.

Hi, Judy! Not sure what availability this unit has...but I stayed here for the month of October 2015...CHANNEL MARKER 206...it is located at the southern end of Surfside Beach...it is listed on VRBO...#310958...but it rents from a company called Marion's Place out of Tulsa, OK...It is a cute little place 2bdrm...2 bath...OF...good luck with your search...and I think I need to have my husband talk to yours...he is rock solid about staying where we are...and it we are having a white out right now on April 9...crazy Ohio weather! Maybe when you all get settled and I am in Surfside sometime we can finally get together! JEALOUS in SE OHIO!

Thank you again for the ideas. JoAnn your post really lifted my spirits. I tried Marion's Place but it was already rented for part of the period. The last few days I came up with a possibility in the $2500. A month range. Unfortunately in the meantime my husband put a deposit on just a room at the old motel called Brookwood Inn in Murrell's Inlet for the month if June. He will probably there alone most of June except for a few days every other week. It is cheap but the reviews are not so great. Other problem is I just came across some articles about a man found dead back in February in one of the rooms. In the articles it was mentioned that they were investigating a suspicious death. Cannot find any articles about what was determined. A little bit disconcerting. I can deal with anything for a few days. It will give me more time to find something for July. Aug & Sept should be a Piece of cake. Then Oct. Nice beach house for six months. Just keep telling myself I can do it. Place at plantation Resort is fantastic until the end of May. My husband will not come back to TN so what can I do!! Move to the beach. Darn!!

Gee. Judy...sorry Channel Marker did not work out...it would have been great...I have thought of another place we stayed a few years ago...it was in Golf Colony...which is near Plantation Resort...Golf Colony 3G...At that time it was owned by one of our MBMB members...but rented through BEACHSTAR PROPERTIES 1841 Colony Drive, Surfside Beach...phone# 843-650-6363...800-654-6522...www.beachstarproperties.com...I will keep thinking...

Yes, July will be your biggest challenge...good luck!

Thank you for all your information. Patrish I checked the Patricia Grand and many of the days we need are not available at a discount. The Horry County homes for sale or rent group is full of good info but just not tentals for June and July. It may be very useful to us in the future. Still trying to find out the cause of the suspicious death in Feb at the Brookwood Inn. My husband has given them a substantial deposit for the month if June. I am sure it will be fine. Right now I am at the condo at Plantation Resort. Go back to Pigeon Forge Tuesday and leave Chris here. Lucky dog. Life us never boring. You all are the best. Thank you.

Judy,

Good for you and your husband following your dreams!! I can't imagine living in
Pigeon Forge. What a traffic nightmare. No doubt you will get all your living arrangements worked out. Kinda sounds like fun to me moving around to different places every few months. Keep us updated.
