Has anyone flown into the Florence airport and driven to MB? We still haven't officially booked our flights  and it appears that it's quite a bit cheaper to fly into Florence. Can anyone give me some feedback? We also need to rent a car so has anyone had issues there? It sounds like a really small airport.

Also, what's the best way to get to MB from Florence?

This is all new for us!

Florence is a small airport, but easy to navigate. After you pick up your rental car, turn right out of the airport onto Hwy 76. Go straight, Hwy 76 merges onto Hwy 501 directly into Myrtle Beach. It is a straight shot, just follow the well marked signs. If you are staying in North Myrtle Beach, take Hwy 22 bypass , 7 miles past Aynor.

It should take you 1:15 to 1:30 to get to Myrtle Beach (about 65 miles).

Definitely worth the savings, it is an easy drive.

Ash, we have friends who often use Florence instead of MB...it's cheaper. They have had no complaints, but they didn't rent a car.

You could also check prices out of Wilmington, NC for a comparison. Further to travel (about 3.5 hours) but Wilmington offers a lot to do.

Thank you! We are booking flights tomorrow so will check the prices one more time - it's expensive to fly to MB so if we can save $500 (!!!) a 1.5 hour drive might be worth it. It's a long trip from MN so adding car travel wth two small children needs to be considered. With that savings though, I think we should take that route.

Hopefully they have an adequate car. We need enough space for our stroller, luggage and kids. Sometimes renting a car is a pain and I fear thy won't book the right one!

Sounds like an easy drive!

Ya know Patrish, I would never disagree with you, :ohnoes: but....... Wilmington has never taken us 3.5hrs from MB. It's only about 75 miles and unless the number of traffic lights has increased drastically over the past few years it should take 2 hrs max and usually 90 mins or so (in my humble experience).

We flew in to Wilmington and rented a car many years ago, saved a lot of dough ! :nanner:

You are absolutely right, Kirk. And here's an example of why I need y'all to be active on the board. You never know when I might have a memory lapse, or I'm in a hurry and my fingers hit the wrong keys. I depend on you to be here, 'cause I DO make mistakes,

Not to worry you but I think Florence is the city without fail we end up going the wrong way. The road curves at the stop light and instead of curving we end up veering off right/straight. We always say we won't do it the next time, but do it anyways. The first time we did it, we were lost for like 30 minutes, but now we are old hats and it adds just 5 minutes. :clown:

We finally booked our flight and car today!!! Thank you all I mean ya'll for the help! We checked out Wilmington and Florence and those err much not reasonable. We ended up booking our flight to Florence. It was the cheapest (Wilmington was only $80 more though) and we no joke........ SAVED....... $630 by flying into Florence!!!! Sooooo excited! Even the car was cheaper so this was for sure the way to go. Yes we have a small drive to MB, but we weren't even sure of we could afford it this year, so this was a no brainer solution!
