Take I-40 ~60 miles to Exit 416 (I-140). Follow I-140 ~7 miles until it ends at Route 321 (big signs to Myrtle Beach). Follow Route 321 ~5 miles past the Battleship and onto Route 17 South. Stay on Rte17 South ~50 miles to Myrtle Beach.

Kirk, we're interested in taking this route, as we'll be coming down Interstate 40 after a short visit in Durham. However, when I look at google maps, I cannot find a route 321 anywhere. Any chance that is route 421?

Ouch ! You are correct, it is 421 (is also Rte 17) As Rick mentioned, most of these exits have Myrtle Beach plastered all over the signs so very difficult to get lost.

Also, this little tip saves another 5-10 minutes since you avoid the lights in the Calabash/Little River area. I never knew about it until I golfed on the Meadowlands/Farmstead courses and noticed it bypasses all those traffic lights.

Quote:
Just North of Calabash, NC but after town of Thomasboro (just past entrance to Brunswick Plantation Golf), take Right onto Rt 57 (Hickman Rd). Follow ~5 miles to stoplight at Rte 9

Now I'm off to correct my notes..... :nanner:

Could very well be, you would certainly know better than me. I know when I took it the first time, I got really excited about it, and wrote about it a lot of several different threads here. If fact, it was so long ago that I can't find it in the archives. I had to reregister with a different name a couple years back, so I don't know if that is why the archives only go back so far for me, or maybe from when the site was down for awhile?

Anyways, glad new people are finding out about the route!

I also searched the archives for Leo's original post, but it was way back in 2005 or so when 795 was first completed.

The forum was offline for a bit, but psychiatric facilities across the country filled up with folks complaining about "MBMB withdrawal syndrome"; Patrish graciously put it back online !

:hello:
