Hello everyone,
I found this message board today while looking up information for our trip. This year from September 7 to the 14th, my parents, my husband, myself, and our 2 year old daughter will be coming to Myrtle for our first time. Being from Pittsburgh, we normally stick to Ocean City, MD. My best friend and her entire family go to Myrtle every year and they finally convinced us to come with them. We are all staying in Cherry Grove at Sunrise Pointe in different condos. I am just looking for the following...
What can we do with a 2 year old there?
We have never rented a condo before, so what should we bring? What shouldn't we bring?
Has anyone ever stayed at Sunrise Pointe?

Thanks,
Michele

Ohhh, I hope I'm the first to reply because a) we're also coming down September 7-14 and b) we live in Maryland and Ocean City, Maryland is our "local" beach too.

You'll love this board -- so many really nice, and helpful people. And you'll LOVE Myrtle Beach/North Myrtle Beach. Trust me, you may never go back to Ocean City for vacation again!

Welcome.

Angela

I have to pipe in too (the above poster is my Mom!) You will LOVE MB. I will go to Ocean city for a weekend, but could never think about staying there for a week after being to Myrtle.

There is plenty to do, but hopefully someone will small children will chime in!

Welcome to the board!

Welcome Michele!

When we were down with our granddaughters when the youngest was two, she really enjoyed Ripley's Aquarium. She loved fish at the time (and Finding Nemo had just come out on DVD... she watched it ALL the time) and she had a ball watching the fish. (She's still obsessed with sharks... just like her daddy! )

She also liked playing Putt-Putt (aka miniature golf). Can't remember which course we took her to but they gave her one of the big plastic clubs & we let her go at it. Of course, there weren't too many people on the course at the time.

And there's always the beach and swimming pools. Both girls would rather play in the sand, wade in the ocean & swim in the pools than do anything else!

Hope this gives you a few ideas! I'm sure others will chime in soon!

Karen in Upstate SC

Welcome!!! Cherry Grove is our beach and there is non better...in my opinion  . I agree with Karen above. Ripley's Aquarium would probably be a real blast for her. There is also the Children's Museum http://www.cmsckids.org/ I have heard good things about it! A couple of sand pails and shovels make for a whole lot of fun on the beach as well!

Enjoy your stay!

Hi, Michele! Welcome to our message board! When our grandson was 2, it was almost impossible to get him off the beach long enough to do anything else!

Ripley's Aquarium and the Children's Museum are good suggestions. We also took him to Waccatee Zoo. It was less than impressive, but he absolutely loved it.

Welcome Michele I live near Ford City, Pa 40 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. A beautiful city but the worst for driving. Ha Ha !

Ripleys aquarium for a 2 yr old, or I'm sure just staying on the beach will occupy. I've never been to Ocean City even tho I know it's 6 hrs from me instead of 12 to 13. My son went there, the prices are thru the roof compared to Myrtle Beach, and the water is cold. ''

You'll never want to skip Myrtle Beach after visiting. Been there since 1998 and other \s since before then. I love it.

Michele,

We're just south of you in Morgantown, WV. You'll love Myrtle Beach, but it is different than Ocean City (and we think much better!). I see you are leaving in just a couple of days, so be sure to take your Pirate's shirt/ hat with you and wear proudly in South Carolina. When you get back home, hopefully the Pirates will have clinched the division and the Steelers will be 2-0.
