We are coming into South Myrtle by way of 501. We are staying at the Holiday Inn South Beach Resort. Which is the best way to come in?
Thanks, Becky

Not 501.

But if you really want to come in via Hwy 501, then take it almost all of the way in, turn right onto 3rd Street and take that to Ocean Boulevard. Turn right (south) onto Ocean Boulevard and your hotel is a mile or so down on the left. It's a fun drive down Ocean Boulevard as you pass the other hotels and amusements.

Most here will recommend that you don't take Highway 501, as it can be really slow (lots of congestion, traffic lights, local traffic, etc.). Several alternatives, including the Conway Bypass (Hwy 22) to Rt 31 South (Carolina Bays Parkway) to Hwy 544 (Dick Pond Road), out to Hwy 17 and then north to Ocean Boulevard where you'll find your hotel on the right.

Everyone has their own way, yet I will give you the most direct route:

After you go through Conway on Hwy 501, you will pass the power plant on your left with Lake Busbee on the right at the 1st light take a right, that is Hwy 544.

Once you pass the entrance for Hwy 31 there will be a light ahead, take a left and follow that road over the swing-bridge, at the 1st light, take a left onto Hwy 707 and go straight, it will take you through the Market Commons and continue straight onto Ocean Blvd and the entrance to the resort is your 1st left.

Just wondering about this swing bridge. How long is it? I don't do too well on bridges:)

It takes 3-4 seconds to cross it, you have to cross a bride to get to the beach, there is no choice, if you take the main Hwy 544 bridge it is much longer as it is raised long before and after the waterway.

Gary, the directions you gave us to get to the beach off of 501 were wonderful. Took us right where we needed to be without all the hassle. We tried reversing the directions but ended up lost. Could you kindly tell us how to get back to 501 from S. Myrtle Beach using Farrow Parkway.

We will soon be on our way to the beach, Yay!!!! :wav:
Thanks and many blessings.

When you leave the resort, take a right onto Ocean Blvd and continue straight onto Farrow Parkway thru Market Commons.

When you come to Hwy 17 Bypass you are going to go straight onto Hwy 707 and about 2 1/2 miles at the traffic light just past the schools, take a right which will take you over the swing bridge. At the 2nd light take a right onto Hwy 544.

After you pass Coastal Carolina University about a mile or so the road will bear right and you will see a sign for Hwy 501 to Myrtle Beach take a right, go past it and stay in the right lane, as you will take the following right onto Hwy 501 towards Conway.

Lindsey, yes it would, The Crown Reef is diagonally across the street from South Beach Resort.
