For those who have not been to the Barc Park on the former Air Force base lately, there have been several changes made over the past few months - and an important one in just the last week.

Over the winter, a new road was constructed that led from the east border of the Barc Park to the rear of the Glenmark Shopping Center behind it (the former Center South Shopping Center along King’s Highway/Business Rt 17, containing the Indoor Flea Market, Food Lion, etc). This road opened a few months ago, links Seagate Village's Mallard Lake Drive to the shopping center, and is now an alternate way to reach the Barc Park.

As the new road opened, parking spaces and an entrance were placed into the Barc Park along this road - which was planned quite some time ago when this road was considered.

About a month ago, the dirt parking area at the southeast corner of the parking lot - beside the main gate leading into the Barc Park - was fenced in and made an extension of the dog play area.

The most important change, however, was made in the last week. The road in front of the Barc Park, Mallard Lake Drive, was posted as “No Parking”. These last 2 changes mean that the areas where folks formerly parked are no longer available. All parking is now at the REAR if the Barc Park, along the road leading to the shopping center.

Below are some photos of these changes to show the current Bark Park layout and parking situation:

UPDATE: I drove behind the Barc Park yesterday, and observed Myrtle Beach city public works crews hard at work digging into the grassy areas along the road to create more paved parking spaces.

Thanks for the update! We would have been driving in circles looking for parking!

I agree... I particularly appreciate the pics showing the parking area! We would be driving around and around looking for the parking too!

Mike,
Thanks for the great pictures and the update on the dog park. We will be arriving Sept 16 with the Greyhound Group and we usually visit the park every day!

Look for the vehicles with greyhound writing on the windows and be sure to say hi!
