We had planned on going for dinner our last night. There was a wait for a table but they said if we could find a table we could eat in the happy hour area. We did find a table and I wish we had know how great happy hour was ahead of time, we wouldn't have ordered dinner. We started with the Mahi Mahi spread with crackers. Goodness that was really delicious! We then ordered a calamari and fried green beans as apps with drinks. They were full size portions   ! We had already ordered dinner for the three of us or I wouldn't have. These were great large app portions and we seriously could have saved ourselves about $50 by just ordering three of their huge apps and sharing. We could have skipped the main meal altogether but who knew?? The food was really good and this will be our go to spot for Happy Hour maybe even more than once next trip. Two excited thumbs up!!

I totally agree with Emmy. The Flying fish is a great happy hour spot.

I saw the recommendation for the happy hour apps but since they must be served in the bar can someone tell me if there are tables or just at the bar service. I'm a short chubby woman walking with a cane and I wouldn't want to be the person trying to get me on a bar stool....or the tall tables with chairs either for that matter. We'll be down starting February 7, 2015.

I don't really like it when places don't serve happy hour to all customers. It's not really fair for a person that may be only sitting a few feet from you getting offers that you do not. It might be okay if adequate seating is available, but that's not the case most of the time. It seems like Landry's was another place that didn't let you get happy hour specials unless you were sitting in the bar area.

When we were there last year we sat at a regular table and chairs. We are down here now and plan to go for Happy Hour at some point and I will report back if there is any change.

No it's not a "belly up to the bar" type bar. It's just a separate area on the lower level with regular tables and chairs...Unless they changed something you should be fine I believe.

Thanks a bunch. We're in MB now and have an open night. Good to know there's somewhere new (to us) for something a little out of our routine.

We always like a Mongolian Grill on Saturday night, Mexican buffet on Sunday; Monday we had New York deli sandwiches at Lee's Market. Today will be Simply Southern Buffet (was Filling Station/Home Plate). Indian Buffet and Mrs. Fish (scallops after 3:00) later in the week.

I LOVE vacation with no cooking but most of all NO DISHES.

I'm getting hungry reading this.

Where was the Mexican buffet?

I agree! No cooking and no dishes is the best!

While we were waiting to go to the One Show, we stopped here for happy hour!!! Beer was super cold, just the way I like it, and Phyllis had the White Peach Sangrias again! We got the smoked mahi with crackers, sashimi tuna, and the spicy tuna roll!! All were over the top, as was my two oyster shooters!!! Kind of wishing I had one of them right now  ! I can see us definitely ding this again next year!!! We loved this place, both times we went!!

Cross posting with Restaurants because Flying Fish deserves it !

Just went to Flying Fish happy hour (which is from 4-8pm Labor Day - March 30th) What a find ! With the weather so bad, the bar had plenty of seats and the servers were phenomenal. I think we tried everything at least once…. Oyster shooters followed by Oysters on the half-shell were small, but delicious and clean. Tuna sushi was also excellent (ended up with 2 orders). Cheese shrimp dip with freshly fried tortilla chips is also a winner with plenty of whole shrimp which are small enough to easily fit on a chip. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender with a solid BBQ sauce on the side. Fried Green tomatoes topped with grits and shrimp were also over the top. (though the menu said the shrimp were blackened, they weren't…. But didn't make any difference). I had 2 beers which were I think $3 for local pints. Jan had a Long Island iced tea which I wouldn't recommend since it is made from a pre-made mix versus combining all the liquors. Jan also tried a sip of Sangria and said it was too sweet.

Definitely 5 star happy hour.
