So we're coming down the end of June for fun, and to do retirement research (still a few years away). Our dilemma is finding a place near the coast in New Hampshire and disappearing somewhere warm in the winter or move to South Carolina and have to make frequent trips north to visit the kids, but however have a pleasant winter climate (From a northerner perspective).
The Litchfield area intrigues us as being close to Huntington state Park and presumably away from the Myrtle Beach crowds. Any other recommendations or non-recommendations for the Litchfield area.
Appreciate the input

I love the Litchfield, Pawleys Island, and the Murrells Inlet area! You're right...that area offers easy access to HB State Park as well as Brookgreen Gardens (which we love!) So as for retirement or a second home, it just depends on what you want. So map out some areas to visit while you're here on vacation!

Our situation: After 10 years in the Surfside Beach area, we down-sized and moved near The Market Common in 2009. We are close to shopping and restaurants, and with the golf cart, we don't even need to take the car to the beach since we're very close the State Park. Check it out!
