Post subject:  Moving to MB right after Christmas!!

Greetings from Buffalo,NY! My name is Kellye and I'm moving to Myrtle in December. I will be transferring with my job and I'm very excited to be in the south! I am looking for apartments/condos. I was down in September checking out areas and I am very overwhelmed to say the least! Can anyone tell me a little about these apartments/condos? Canterbury Apartments, I have heard from a fellow coworker in my soon to be new location that Canterbury isn't the greatest. Has anyone heard this? She recommended The Riverwalk at Arrowhead where she lives. Also, anything on River Oaks Drive? I looked at a condo in World Tour which looked super nice! Online I saw condos in River Oaks condos and The Fairways. If anyone has any helpful info on any of these condos, that would be wonderful! I'm also open to any suggestions you may have. I'm a female in my late 20s so I would love somewhere super safe and reasonably priced. Nothing over 700-750. Thanks so much and looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Kellye, welcome to our message board! Thanks for choosing to join us.

Could you tell us what area of Myrtle Bach you'll be working in? Traffic can be horrendous during tourist season, so if your job happens to be in the south end of Myrtle Beach, you would probably want to avoid a long drive and waits in traffic to get back to your apartment in the city of North Myrtle Beach, a 40 minute drive under best circumstances; up to an hour+ in the summer.

You might want to search rentals by owners. Sometimes you can snag a good deal that way because owners often prefer to rent for a year, knowing they don't have to worry about collecting rent every month:

Seagate community has rentals, but they usually have a waiting list. It is located near The Market Common, across Bus. 17 and Myrtle Beach State Park.

The Market Common offers long term rentals above the stores and is extremely popular with young professionals, tho it may be a little out of your budget.

Another Market Common rental group, Alexan, is also very popular:

Hopefully someone will come along to tell you more about the apartments you've asked specifically about. We live near The Market Common, and I've been in a few of the rentals, so that only area I know much about.

Best wishes on your future move! I hope you will love it here.

Thanks so much for your warm wishes! I am very excited to escape the super cold and snowstorms.

I will be close to the Tanger Outlets (the ones closer to North Myrtle) for work. I'm willing to drive a little since right now my commute is about 35 minutes.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will have to check out all the links you provided. My biggest concern is definitely safety. It's always hard when you aren't too familiar with the area to find a safe place to live! But I feel I have come to the right message board community! :)

The question of rime comes up often, as well it should.

Here are three links that address the problem:

Crime Statistics:

Relocating/FAQs (ss topics: Difference between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach as well as
http://www.funbeaches.com/mb_faq.html

What is the difference between the cities of North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach?
http://funbeaches.com/difference.html

Myrtle Beach is a tourist destination, so it attracts crime. That can be said of any tourist destination in the USA. The information in the first link should be of help. We have been living here 16 years and have never personally experienced any crime-related situations. However, you need to remain vigilant, especially during tourist season, just as you would in any city that is new to you.

Now that I know the area of your work, you may want to check these link. BTW, I'm not a travel agent, nor do I have any affiliation with any listings I've linked for you.
