Thank you all for your welcome. I have a strange question i thought would go better here. Are there any ice skating and or hockey rinks near Myrtle Beach. We are avid hockey fans and will be staunch supporters of any local AHL team or college team. Also, my son has been a rink manager for 10 yrs at several rinks here in CT and is considering moving down to SC if there is a place for him. I hope I dont have to give up a favorite past time when we move in

I don't think MB has one. Not sure how far away one is either. I'm sure someone else can give you a better answer.

I do remember reading about a group wanting to open one up.

Thanks for finding those links, Melissa! Good sleuthing work!

There used to an Ice Castle when we moved here 15 years ago. It featured ice skating shows, with skaters such as Nancy Kerrigan heading up various shows. On the days a show was not scheduled, it was open to the public for skating. Unfortunately, it closed.

Since then I have not seen anything about skating except for occasional synthetic skating, set up in The Market Common for kids in the winter.

Sports Zone up in Little River used to advertise on their sign they had batting cages and indoor skating, although I don't know if it meant ice or roller, nor do I know if they are still in business. But give them a try.

For Sports Zone it was roller and they are closed.

The closest team to follow will be out of Charleston, the SC StingRays they play at the Ice Palace and it does have open skating. Up until 4 or 5 years ago the Pee Dee Pride played out of Florence, they used the Civic Center and had a temporary ice rink to use.
