First let me thank all of you on this forum who seem so beyond helpful! I have been to the Myrtle Beach area several time and I am looking to relocate from upstate NY within the next few months. I have two questions. I have run a successful Healing Center for 15 years and am wondering how my "line of work" will be received in the Myrtle Beach area. I doing Healing work, teach meditation, I am a Holistic Life Coach and a Psychic (a legit one). I have an international clientele so I will not need to look for work as I am lucky to be able to take my work with me. However, I am looking to settle down in a place where I can be part of the community. In addition I love charity work and am looking to join the Red Cross as soon as I relocate as well as to get involved in other community projects/charities!

My next question is how do you find the right apartment? Every time I find one I find bad reviews or conflicting reviews? I would like to be in Little River, North Myrtle Beach area. I have lived in my own home for many years but until I really get to know the area I thought renting would be the best bet. I am currently considering Cherry Grove Commons. I will be coming to SC to look around in Jan so any suggestions would be very much appreciated:)

Congratulations on your decision to move to the beach!

I hope someone will be able to help you with your search for an apartment in the NMB area. Wally and I live in the Market Common area, and all I know about rentals are Alexan apartments and the rental apartments above the stores.

I see no reason why your line of work would be hindrance in the Grand Strand.

I think rental reviews are a lot like vacation accommodation reviews, and you need to sift through them to find what the majority like.

Best wishes for your new adventure in life, and thanks so much for joining our group here!

For North Myrtle area

Many others but these are the two largest.

So many communities along the Grand Strand there seems to be a parade, 5-k run or something everytime we check the local news. Shouldn't have any trouble finding some kind of fund raiser or community event to get involved with.

Thanks, Alan! (He's our North MB contingent.) I think he is hoping for a raise. :clown:

There are Many organizations in the Grand Strand who would love to have your participation. If you google "volunteers needed myrtle beach" (without the quotes) you will come up with s slew of pages.

Our message board members have had many meetups. One if the strengths of this board is that since we started our meetups in 2005, many of us have become close friends. You can find more information along with lots of photos here:

I also found some information by googling "holistic group meetups myrtle beach" and "myrtle beach area newcomers groups" - again, without the quotes.

Wasn't there a site a few years back that listed every piece of property for sale. Listed by price. Million dollar homes at the top down to single wide trailers at the bottom. I looked at it from time to time day dreaming about living down there. With today's economy I think I'd be looking at camper in back yard listings.

Hello!

I just signed in after many weeks. Have you made the move yet? I currently live in Redondo Beach, CA and am planning on a move to Myrtle Beach. My family is there and I feel the need to be closer to them. I am a little worried about the change in environment ("big" city to smaller city). I'm curious how your move is going. Any update you're willing to share would be great!

Thanks!
Rhonda

This winter we're staying at a Barefoot Resort condo and are thinking we might do some real estate looking. As we currently live in a townhouse, we're thinking we might prefer a 1200-1500 sq ft use but one with an HOA so we don't have to do yard work.

Rhonda, we had only 2 posts from NewAger. I often find myself wondering what happened to people who never follow up....NewAger included. Hopefully things worked out well.
