Tonight was the meetup where everybody had to say goodbye to everybody else at least 3 times, because nobody could tear themselves away. It was like being a little magnet on a giant fridge... you can't pull yourself away from the magnetic force. Brett was no exception. He insisted that we HAD to leave, so we could relieve our babysitter (my grandmother). Then he immediately turned around and started talking to someone else. I saw several other people doing the same thing. It was funny to watch.

I was unfortunately designated to take pictures, because Dad didn't bring his camera. I really shouldn't be allowed to do this. I screwed up so many pictures... I'm a disgrace. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of Alan, because all my shots were of him chewing (someone just take the camera away from me!). There's also no pictures of Lew, because Pat was blinking. Other shots came out as blurry pieces of fluff. I was not on top of my game! I guess I was too caught up in the magnetic force of chatting with everyone to pay attention to the task at hand. Oh well. Everyone else was taking pictures too, so hopefully they will redeem me when they come back from vacation and post them.

So here are the pictures that came out decent enough to post.

Emmy, Paul, and Simon...
http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050796

Emmy decided that her potato chips were too intense to eat. I never knew a potato chip could be described as intense. But it made for great laughs and endless teasing.

Simon and Brett hit it off immediately and discussed just about every topic on the face of the earth. Bowling, NHL fights, cars, work, etc... Brett barely took a second to breath or to eat his burger. I think it took almost two hours for him to eat. I know this, because I finished my salad in short order and then just stared with longing moon eyes at his burger for the next hour and 56 minutes. Dieting is evil. I would suggest never doing it! (That's the hunger speaking, Folks. Ignore it).

Jeff, Lorraine, and Nich...
http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050797

Nich was incredibly patient and noble to let his parents bring him to another meetup. He entertained himself with the peanuts. Oh, the many things you can do with a peanut. Nich can show you. I was entertained just watching him! I also thought he had the coolest t-shirt ever, and I need to buy one for myself. Although, I think he can pull off the look better than I could. I'd probably just get laughed at. If you can't tell from the picture, his shirt says, "Trust me I'm a Ninja." Nich is really a great kid. I hope my kids grow up to be just as awesome as Nich and Zack when they are teenagers.

Vicki, Kay, and Aaron...
http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050799

Vicki and Kay's grandson Aaron is one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. He always seems to be smiling and happy and genuine. It's also very obvious that he loves his grandparents. He was talkative and polite. I swear, if I were about 10 years younger and not married, I'd probably be sitting here right now daydreaming and writing his name all over my notebook with hearts and stars and so forth. (Wait, am I allowed to say that?? Somebody make sure Brett doesn't read this. hee hee!). Seriously, though... what a great guy.

Aaron...
http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050806

Brittany and Ryan...
http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050795

Brittany and Ryan are currently in a heated battle over who is the greatest. Ryan has his own restaurant (Ryan's Steakhouse), and Brittany just discovered this afternoon that she has her own housing development in Myrtle Beach (Brittany Place). The sibling rivalry is fierce! Don't get caught in the crossfire! :boxing:

I did not get a picture of Ron, Mary, and the kids together, because the perfect "Mayberry" family didn't sit together! *SHOCK*!!! They decided they see each other all year, so they should mingle among the other fine message board members. Sort of a divide and conquer strategy. So here are assorted pictures of them... not sitting together.

http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050801
http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050803

Cathy and Rich...
http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050800

Rich and Cathy are people I could just talk to all night. Cathy is hilarious. Rich is such a wonderful guy. He would be near perfect, except for that he's a Steelers fan. That's a black mark on his permanent record. But we'll forgive him and try to overlook it. HAHA!

Pat and Lew showed up and surprised us all. I was so thrilled to see them again. Like I said earlier, I screwed up the picture of them together. Arggg. But I do have this lovely picture of Pat and Dad. I especially like it, because Dad is wearing a necklace. I couldn't help but "tee-hee" just a little bit. Good times. Good times.

http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050798

Here's a picture of part of the group. As you can see, everyone looks giddy with happiness...
http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050804

I got to talk to Alan a little more tonight. I have never known a FedEx driver before, and I wanted to know all about his job and his driving route. Do you know Alan drives about 200-300 miles a day?! Impressive! Of course, I'm sure the last thing Alan wants to do on his restful vacation is talk about his work. My bad. I couldn't help myself. I was very fascinated.

Alan's daughter and grandaughter were there. I didn't get to talk to his daughter at all, but she seemed very nice. I've decided that their grandaughter is just about the cutest little toddler I've ever seen. The curly hair is priceless. I love it.

http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050805

My dad and Emmy's mother....
http://www.pbase.com/katiejohn/image/82050810

I think he has adopted her as his second mother. I think she loves him just as much. I was a first hand witness to several occasions where Emmy asked her something, and she refused. Then Dad asked her the same thing, and she said, "Sure!" It was so funny. I laughed so hard, Diet Coke almost came out my nose. Ok, that's gross. I've probably shared too much. LOL!

Thank you to everyone who came to the meetups last night and tonight. We had a wonderful time and truly look forward to next year when we can see you again. I hope your vacations are relaxing and fun, and have a safe trip home. Y'all come back now!! (Hey, I'm getting good at that. Maybe in about 85 years, I'll have something that resembles a southern drawl!!).

I didn't pay attention to the board( surprise) and went to the wrong Logan's. Went into NMB Logans asking for large party. "What's the name of the reservation.? I had no idea. Explained who, what, and why. They looked at me with a big "Huh?" look on thier faces.
Called "Mom" Patrish and she got me straightend out. By the time we showed up at MB Logans all the rest were finishing salads. By the time we recieved our food everybody else was finished and taking pictures.

I think Emmy tried a couple times to get a shot. I was never a majorette so I don't smile on cue. Everytime she said "Smile" she'd click about the time I said "This is a smile!"

That's on a "local" route. Road drivers do 500- 600 a day/night. We have a Hagerstown run out of Charleston. Think it's in the 625 range. Pays big bucks but not worth the wear and tear on mind and body. I'll stay on the low paying peddle routes where I can flirt with the women working at Wal Mart.

Ditto to what everybody says about the meet up. I always get a big kick out of Kay, Vickie's husband. He's from a very small "town" in southern WV. Bandytown.
Last year when we first met he was tickled to death to meet somebody who not only knew where Bandytown was at but has been there many times.
Last night we had oldest son Jason with us. Jason's in-laws are from Bandytown area. When Kay heard that he immediatly got up and headed around table. I thought there was going to be a hug but they just discussed names trying to figure out who knew who.

Katie,

I am going to let that steelers comment slide since I really enjoy reading your Dad's posts. Ha. Ha.
And by the way, Rich I got your back!
Black and Gold Forever!

Katie, let me guess, you and Brett are Browns fans?

See ya later

Jay,
I'm a Patriots fan. Born and raised. Brett is a Browns fan. But mostly he just watches the Pats with me, because my team wins and his team doesn't. LOL!!!!!

Katie,

Okay, I knew there was a Browns Fan involved in this somewhere. LOL
It's funny though, my second guess would have been patriots. Not just because of your New Hampshire/New England area connection, but because they are the real arch enemy of the steelers considering the Pats have kept us from several Super Bowls over the years.
Anyway, I'll stop talking football, so everybody can get back to their beach dreaming. Including me, 39 days to go and I'm counting down the hours!!!!

Talk to you later,

Jay

The meet up at Logan's was awsome. We got to see a lot of the people who were at the Auntie Anne's and a few new faces. I spent a lot of time talking to Pat and Lew. I so delighted to get to meet them after all these years of reading Pat's notes on the message board. We mostly talked about my good friend Rodney Atkins and country music.
It was great to meet Emmy and her family. Unfortunately she got involved in mine and Leo's Southern accent versus Northern accent debate.
I got to meet Alan's son Jason who is a restaurant manager. If you are ever in Charleston, WV stop in at Longhorns and he'll take good care of ya.
It was hard to say goodbye, because I knew it would be a long time before I would see everyone again. I guess until then we will stay caught up through pm's, emails and phone calls.
Here are my pictures from the meet up

All I can say was that it was AMAZING! I was unable to attend Mon. nights meet-up at BATB so this was the "big one" for us. It delivered. I met so many of the familiar faces here on the board and was able to connect voices with smiles. I was able to gather some pics but not all of them where of the best quality, so not all of the beautiful people I met have a pic to go with their bios...lol.

First Katie and Brett. What can I say but they are just two of the greatest people. Anyone that can keep my 19 year old occupied with conversation for two hours wins the "Man of the Year Award" in my book. So hats off to you Brett, the award is yours!

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k195/ ... 000710.jpg

I didn't get to talk with Jeff and his wife too much as we were seated at opposite ends but they seemed wonderful. Exactly as I would have pictured them! Though, come to think of it, Jeff did give me a compliment when we did talk, said I didn't sound too much like a northerner...I think that's a compliment anyway...lol
Leo was Leo. Wonderful, witty, and charming. He really blessed us by coming as I know he had a very full schedule. I am sure he and mom have some cosmic relationship going on. He is just sooo great with her and she adores him. The last thing I heard my mom mutter to him as we were leaving was "I promise the house will be in your name" but maybe it was just the wind...lol.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k195/ ... 000711.jpg

I then got to meet Allen and his family for the second time. The first was when I was strolling along Cherry Grove Beach and there he was. At least it looked like a pic I had seen of a guy named Allen here on the board so I just called out "Allen" he turned and I introduced myself...Wonder what he thought...lol. His wife was lovely as well. His son and his family where there as well. All very nice folks.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k195/ ... 000712.jpg

Next was Cathy and her hubby "Shirtman". What great people they were!! Cathy chatted with my mom and she was a doll. We laughed about our dislikes of hamburgers and her love of "parasailing" (hehehe). Another great couple that I so enjoyed spending time with.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k195/ ... 000714.jpg

I had chatted with Vicki (mz.kitty) several times here on the board and I felt as if I was meeting an old friend. She was so much fun! Her hubby was hysterical and had us all in the giggles. This is them with their grandson.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k195/ ... 000715.jpg

Pat and her husband were another couple we met for the first time. They are originally from Jersey and he plowed snow for a living as my hubby does so we all had a fun time talking~ Ron (myrtlebeachbum) and his family were just fabulous. I didn't get to spend much time with them as they too were at the other end of the table but when we did get together it was wonderful!

I wish all my shots came out of everyone but you all get the idea.It was a wonderful fun filled time of gathering with folks that truly seem to be old friends. If I missed anyone in my write up, please forgive me. We just got home last night and I am still vibrating from the 13 hour car ride.

What a great time once again at a meet-up, with a large turn out! :nanner: It was great to meet everyone again for the first, second or 3 time. The way it started when we arrived at Logan's, I thought this is going to be a disaster. We got there early and I told them we have a group of 26 coming, and they had the deer in the headlight look. The manager said nobody called for a reservation, and I looked at him and said, "I was told you don't take reservations"! He quickly took care of it and had us ready to sit in about 15 minutes! :nanner: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1421/820 ... 6b73_o.jpg

I was glad to be able to get Pat & Lew to a meet-up. We haven't seen them in 2 years, and it was great to see them both again. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1258/820 ... 6564_b.jpg

I'm glad that I was able to meet Jeff & Lorraine, and there "Ninja" son Nich. What a great couple these 2 are, and Nich is such a riot. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1288/820 ... a964_b.jpg

Brittany had a blast throwing peanuts in a glass with Nich and Simon. Thanks to the 2 them both for keeping her occupied. Ryan is shy, just like me and hid the whole night in the corner.

It was great to meet Rich & Cathy, and I hope they had a less eventful drive Home and staying below the RADAR! http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1214/820 ... ffa2_b.jpg

I was glad to meet Vicki, since I have chatted with her on the chat board before it was great to talk in person. Her Husband Kay was great also, he was prepared to use his military background if Logan's wasn't able to seat us in a timely manner. It's to bad that Ryan hid himself away, he could have talked with Aaron, he seemed like a great young man and enjoyed himself amongst the MB2 members. I liked his shirt! :nanner: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1172/821 ... 751b_b.jpg

The relationship he has with his Grandparents, reminded me of the same thing with my Grandparents!

It was great to meet Katie & Brett again, and I'm glad they could make it after a long week away traveling the USA and being able to post all photos while away! :notworthy: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1422/821 ... fe7a_b.jpg

It was a pleasure to meet Emmy and her Family. We didn't get to talk too much, but it was great to finally meet. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1060/820 ... 9676_b.jpg

It was great of Leo to make an appearance at yet another meet-up, even though he was minus his sweetheart of a wife, Charlotte. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1111/821 ... 1f26_b.jpg

I don't think there are any photos of Alan due to his late arrival with all the traffic on 501. It was great to meet him and his Family in person. We did get to talk about Tom Mabe, the guy who gets revenge on telemarketers. I have no clue how we got on this subject? :dontknow:

It was great to meet Patrish & Wally at Auntie Anne's, and if it wasn't for her, we could have all these great meet-ups..

Brian & Colleen also made the Auntie meet-up, and it was a pleasure to see them again, and Congratulation's on becoming permanent SC residents.

Until next year,

Another great night at Logans meet up. It was so much fun. I was seated next to Emmy's mom and she reminded me so much of my mom and aunt. A wonderful person. I spoke to Emmy (sun'fun) and talked a little about golf with her. She reminds me of someone who sees the positive or good in everyone or any situation.

I got to talk with Vicki and Kay more and their grandson Aaron. Kay, I was really intent on listening to your parachute instructions as to how to land when I fall from the sky and smack into the ocean IF I went parasailing. I didn't have to follow these instructions. They are a nice couple.

Met Alan and Ruann and his family. I love his posts. He gets right to the point and tells it like it is. Glad I finally met them.

I didn't have much time to talk again to Katie, Jeff, Lorraine or Ron, Mary or Brett but we were at opposite ends of the table. But like Jeff says there is not enough time. I apologize although I must have talked enough because I never finished my club sandwich and took it with me.

Leo made it here and I told him the day I'd be parasailing and he ordered me to call him that day if I went. He then told Rich he needed confirmation from him also and asked if I'd lie. I swore I wouldn't so my pictures better turn out. I felt like I was being sent on a special mission.

Thanks again everyone for coming especially those who live in MBeach. I know it is hard taking time out of your personal lives, but we do look forward to seeing you. Cathy Photo link

Now that we have been home for the last week and a half and Cathy has decided to let me on here I thought I better jump in here.

First of all I want to thank Ron( Myrtlebeachbum) for setting up the meet ups.I also want to thank every one who came to them which ever one it was.I am not very good with all the names but I do want to say what a pleasure it was to see every one.

It was great to see all of my message board friends ones I know from the past and all the new ones I met.I can't say enough about the people I have met at these meet ups. It's like being with people you have know all your life and as far as I'm concerned it don't get any better than that. The last thing I want to say is for (Katie) I am going to let that Steelers comment go this time. (Ha Ha)
