Another place I always wanted to try. The atmosphere was great and so was the service. They have a good sized patio out the back right on the beach. We ordered fish and chips. We were both disappointed. The fish was frozen fish with a very heavy batter. The fries were the large beefeater fries. We felt it was very pricey for what we got. The bill was $37 without the tip for two fish and chips and two draught beer. Usually for that price you would at least get cole slaw. I wouldn't go here again for a meal but they had several appetizers on the menu and I would walk down, because we are close to there, and sit on the patio and order appetizers and a couple of beer. But as far as going for a meal there are too many good places to go.

Heavy batter and seafood is not a good combo in MB. That's the type of food I expect to get at home, not at the beach.

Oh darn! This place is always on my list and I never seem to make it. Upsetting to hear it's not the best food.

But it would be good for appetizers and drinks on the beachside patio so all is not lost.

This is true! Plus with me having Celiac, I couldn't have anything breaded anyway! I have to go with the same fish or salad or burger without bread every trip out!

We've been to Molly Darcy's several times, as it was walking distance from our hotel in North Myrtle. We never ordered the seafood, and I always felt it was odd to have an Irish Restaurant beachfront. I mean, who wants bangers and mash sitting under a palm tree, listening to the crash of the waves?

But the location is good, and as Christine said, the service was always good. Their open-face reuben sandwich is outstanding, and that is what I always ordered. But it definitely isn't a "destination" restaurant. If you are in the area, its worth a visit for a beer and a snack by the ocean. http://www.mollydarcy.com/Home-MyrtleBeach.html
