Opa! is a Greek/American Cafe which has been open almost 2 weeks in Surfside Beach. It is in the former location of the Charleston Cafe,.

On my own, I'm not trendy enough to head off to a new restaurant without hearing reviews first. But a couple of friends wanted to try this new place or lunch, so 4 of us met at Opa's. We all ordered a Gyro with a side order of yellow rice and black beans.

We all thought it was good and worth the price of $7.95. The sauce was very good, the veggies were fresh, the bread tasty and there was plenty of meat. However, the chunks of chicken in my gyro should have been cut into thirds. The problem was holding the foil-wrapped gyro in my hand and trying to eat it like a sandwich. When I got to a big block of chicken, I couldn't bite into it without losing grip on the bread. I had to lay it on my plate and use the knife to re-size the bites. I finally ended up putting it all onto my place, and leaving half the bread uneaten.

Opa! does not have a website yet, nor a Facebook account, so I can't direct you to a menu. To give you an idea of the prices:

Highest price
Opa's sizzlling cheese - 8.95
9 other appetizees listed, all 7.99

4 salads, ranging from 9.95 to 6.95

Burgers and Wraps:
8 listed, all 7.95, includs a side

Gyros, Kebobs, Sandwiches
6 listed, all 7.95, includes a side

Greek Specialties:
8 listed . Comes with pita bread and small Greek salad. Priced 10.95 to 13.95

Mediterranean and American Classics:
7 listed. Comes with pita bread and small Greek salad All priced at 13.95

The menu also included side orders, children's menu, beverages, beer, wine and Greek desserts.

Service was good and staff was friendly. I would go back!

Hi Patrish, thank you for the review. I have driven by that corner hundreds of times in the last few years and always noticed the Charleston Cafe but never the martini bar next to it. Is that a new venue also called Borgala (?)

Judy, Borgata is fairly new too. I have seen several coupons for it, but have not been there!

I don't think this is the kind of Martini Bar you would be expecting, I don;t think this is the kind of place most people on this forum would be happy/comfortable with.

I have known the owner and his wife for many years, I knew them both before they knew each other, I am not saying anything derogatory about the place, it is really a good looking place and I always get a discount :)

They had a huge 4:20 party, and of course they have the late night "Power Hour" people who understand both of these concepts would enjoy this establishment.
