We miss the Crab House at Broadway at the Beach, too! The food and atmosphere were both fantastic!

No Gary ...I am talking about the Crab House that was at BROADWAY at the Beach (also one at Barefoot)...although you are correct that before they opened at BATB and Barefoot they were on RR. I am a food /travel writer so I am pretty up to date on area restaurants, but thanks anyway.

Laura, I read your original post as the Crab House being in the Inlet, which is why
I said what I did, after re-reading I see you meant out of the Inlet but not stating where
it had been either :) When most people talk of Myrtle Beach, it could be any where from
Calabash to Pawleys Island, one just never knows unless it is stated.

I remember going to the Crab House on Restaurant Row when I was growing up. The Crab House along with Chuck's was an annual stop for the family. They were places that dad really enjoyed going, more so than anyone else. We never went back after it left the Restaurant Row location. Not too many of the places that I remember growing up are still in business. I think Chuck's may still be open?

MBKY then maybe y'all had been served by me, I bartended there back in the late 70's at night
a few nights a week, the bar was used for overflow while people waited for seating, the house drink was the swamp water and it was served in a mason jar.

We've dropped a lot of our favorites, for various reasons.. but the one we would miss the most is Sticky fingers. we like Joe's crab shack, and altho we 've only been there once, we'd miss spuds at murriells inlet just because we LOVE Their Clam chowder! Its the first time we've ever had it with a red sauce with chunks of tomatoes. Delicious. Landry's is great also.

Lou, it's Manhatten clam chowder which is tomato based, whereas the good stuff New England clam chowder is milk and cream based.

At Lee's Inlet Kitchen their red chowder is called Inlet Clam Chowder...and it bears little resemblance to Manhattan...it is spicy and delish!

I liked Lee's and had that chowder. I like the spicy. I'm not a cream-based soup/stew/chowder person, per se, so NE Clam isn't my favorite, but a good one is, well...heavenly and a bad one...hideous.

We would be really bummed if Drunkin Jacks in Murrells Inlet ever went away. They have the best hush puppies anywhere. We love their salad bar as well. When we were there two weeks ago, the wife and I decided next time, we are getting the salad bar, hush puppies, and desert. I hear they have great desert ,but have never had a bit of room to try any by time we finish dinner there.

Can someone remind me what the name of the blog is from the woman who is a waitress in a Myrtle Beach restaurant? I'm trying to tell someone about it and cannot remember it to save me.

Mm
