...you arrived on your vacation only to find it had closed?

I remember the uproar about Tripps at Broadway at the Beach when their lease was not renewed. How about now? Which restaurants would you miss the most?

I'll get this started with a couple of our favorites:
California Dreaming
Nacho Hippo

Doug picked Carolina Roadhouse and I picked Liberty. However, Doug said that there are so many restaurants to try that he is sure we could put another in one of their places.

Patrish, this is a really good question :drinkin: ! Honestly, as many favorites that we've found during our visits, Sea Captain's House is the only one we'd really miss! I agree with Deanna's husband Doug, there is usually someplace else just as good. After all, we've already had to replace The Mad Boar, Texan's, The Crab House, and the Atlanta Bread Company!!
Sea Captain's breakfast with a view would be hard to replace!!!!

HaHaHa....I had forgotten about the Mad Boar. That brought a big smile to my face.

I have to agree that the Sea Captain's would be a terrible loss. I'd hate to think of making a Sunday Brunch at home when we have company. Oh wait...there's always the Krispy Kreme brunch-in-a-box! :clown:

Ultimate California Pizza - just because it's been tradition since my very first visit to order in a pizza that first night on the beach and eat it out on the balcony!

Burro Loco - great margaritas and food, I really like a combo plate they have that I've never found at any other mexican restaurant I've tried.

Definitely the Sea Captains..... Can't imagine not having an omelet made by George or Lester, nor the creativity of some of their lunch/dinner specials.

Carolina Roadhouse/Biminis/Mr Fish run a close 2nd, 3rd and 4th !

Deanna, before I scrooled down to read other responses my thought was, I don;t cares who closes, things change, and we have so many choices of places to eat here anyhow, I mean come on, there are almost 2,000 choices around the Strand of where to eat :)

I know that some folks get in the habit of going to the same place/s all the time, I like to try different places, especially on vacation and yes I have gone to places where it was not the best but I don;t get upset by it, I may let others know that I suggest they don;t go though, yet in all the places I have ever eaten across the Country, there are only a few that left me with such a bad impression that I mentioned it to others.

Ron, Atlanta Bread only closed his north store, the one on Hwy 544 just west by 2 blocks of 17 by-pass is still open.

As long as there is a hamburger joint overlooking the ocean on the boardwalk with live music and cold beer, I'll be happy. I really, really enjoy the Oceanfront Grill, and would miss it if they closed. But if someone else opened a burger place in the same spot, I'd be just as happy! Nothing like the sound of the ocean and the smell of hamburgers being grilled. Wish I was there right now!!!!!!!

River City Cafe! The food is fantastic, the prices are low, and the boys love it there Andre usually very well behaved and entertained. Joe's Crab Shack is another one.

Gary,

You have the advantage that you live there! I get down 2 weeks a year and I look forward to certaion places to eat. And it is different for my beach vacation with my wife than for my golf vacation with the guys.

My sister and her husband fly in from N.M. and we always eat at Pacinos the first night. BTW - This is a carry-over from 17 years of coming down to visit our friends in Oceanside Villiage. Now we stay on the beach about 1 mile south of the Garden City Pier so you know we must go to the Gulf Stream also.... We used to really like Divines but think they've fallen back a bit.

But in October with the guys - We eat at SoHo at least 3 times during the week (it is a short walk from Breakers - the food is good and it is a short walk from Breakers so DUIs aren't at risk. Then there is Bummz.... We also make sure we get to Rioz. They guys also found Pacinos to be one of their favorites!

Sure we try other places but we look forward to returning to the good ole places.

Anyway - I guess if I lived there and could get to my favorite places a few times a year then I'd take advantage of the many other places to eat....

- Jeff

We do miss Garcia's that was by the Kroger. They had a fabulous Happy Hour. Oh, but that wasn't the question.

We would miss Nacho Hippo (our new favorite restaurant!).

We would also miss Sea Captain's for breakfast.

Ric would miss Damon's for AYCE ribs.

We'd miss happy hour at Liberty.

And, happy hour at Burro Loco.

These are all our must do's in MB.
