Rich and I will be coming down on Sept 15th. First we will be stopping in Mount Airy to visit the home of Andy Griffith. Fictional town of Mayberry. Will stop there a few days before getting to M Beach. Will t o u r the town, the jail, Floyd's barber shop, do some shopping etc.

( we were going to go to Savannah also but plans changed)

Cathy, welcome back to the board! Missed seeing you here.

Wally and I spent 3 days in Charleston over the Christmas holidays this year. We used the DASH a lot to get around since it was FREE! (We like free!) Here's the link to my Charleston page. There might be some ideas for you and Rich:
http://www.funbeaches.com/charleston.html

Look forward to seeing you while you're here. Hope you will schedule a meetup!

Good for you! It always feels good when the plan starts coming together. We loved Savannah. The trolley tour is really worthwhile. You get to see the squares and hear the history. We find tours that inform you about the history so informative. Charleston. What can I say. We have been several times and are headed there again next month. Such a beautiful city.

Cathy, wish we could be down there when you and Rich are, but our Alaska trip will be usurping our vacation funds  :???:

Counting the days...it's been a tough year. Elderly parent, nursing homes for other relatives, keeping fingers crossed all goes well this year for the days I'll be away. Think I'll get the suitcase out, my cat will know something's up.

Monitoring the hurricane, we were to leave on the 12th, stop in Mount Airy NC to tour the fictional Mayberrry town of Andy Griffith.

Then early afternoon Thursday go to the Beach, I actually booked two extra nights at a different facility , one for Thurs and Friday, with our regular week at another place on the 15th.

As of now plans pending with the brewing hurricane.

Cant control Mother Nature, just wait and see.

We cancelled, due to the mandatory evacuation in South Carolina. I was to leave in 2 days, but with people being evacuated I wont be getting down there and don't want to be in that storm.

It would be great if the storm misses Myrtle Beach! If it does miss, that is great but boy will I be pissed because I cancelled. Weather man are not always right , but I am taking their word.

So we will wait and see, maybe a week in October might work.

All you locals keep safe.

We wont be visiting this year. I feel so bad for those affected by the floods. I did get my full refund for my rental at the SeaWatch but I used VRBO,a personal owner which Ive used before.

I am disappointed , seriously considered coming down in October but so many roads are flooded .

Ill try again next year.
