Post subject:  One Day Visit

I saw my parents last night and they informed me that they are taking a couple of week in late January to drive around the country (out East really). They are in their early 60's and drive everywhere (no flying due to medical conditions).

They normally go to Florida and Georgia etc, however, my Dad has decided to take my Step-Mom up to MB for at least a day!!! :wav:

My Dad went to MB for a day a couple of years ago, after hearing all of our stories and seeing our pictures from our first couple of trips there. He stayed at the Meridian Plaza (this was in April I believe) for a night with his friend while driving the East Coast. He really thought it was special and saw immediately why we loved it there, even though it was off season. He did quite a bit of walking around and they ate at Bummz - loved it.

Anyway, as he has decided to take Patti there for at least one day, I wanted to get suggestions on what they should accomplish. They plan their general route for their trip, but can vary (say they really like it, they may stay another day etc). I suspect they will stay at the Meridian Plaza again and go to Bummz, but maybe want to eat at another place depending on their timing.

Any suggestions on what they should go with only having 1 potential day there? I have plenty, but reaching out to you folks to give some suggestions. This will be in January, so colder and off season.

Thanks!

Well being they are only here for a day, although being they are travelling from place to place, they may end up staying an extra day or so before heading south to Charleston, which on the way there they should stop in Georgetown and drive along a few of the side streets by the downtown area, very nice old homes and quaint town.

In Myrtle they should walk around Broadway at the Beach in the afternoon, stop in for Happy Hour at Liberty Steakhouse, great home brewed beer and inexpensive app menu for happy hour. Spend a day at Huntington Beach State Park. An inexpensive show to take in could be one of the Comedy clubs or Big Laughs with the Wild Hypnotist show.

I agree with Gary...Broadway at the Beach for sure! They might also like the Sky Wheel and a stroll on the Boardwalk. And of course Murrells Inlet if they have time.

If they are going to Charleston....

Folks before me pretty much got it covered. I was thinking about Broadway at The Beach and the boardwalk, and Murrells Inlet. They might also enjoy Barefoot landing. My husband and I love going there off season, and walk along the waterway. Really nice.

Thank you all! I can't wait to hear how my Step-Mom likes MB! I'm sure it will be nice for her to "put a face to the name" from all we have talked about.

I for sure wanted them to see Broadway at the Beach (new for my Dad too) - just wanted sure how it would be in January-February. I think they will really like the Boardwalk too. Plus that wasn't there when my Dad stopped last time either.

I suspect they won't get to Charleston, however if they do, I know they will love it. I haven't actually been there myself (bucket list though). I know my Dad in particular loves history and they have a lot of it.

Thank you! :nanner:

Here are a couple things your dad might like...and they are free;

Many tourists don't know MB is home to the SC Hall of Fame, located inside the Myrtle Beach Convention Center,

Warbird Park on Farrow Parkway near The Market Common, features three of the planes that were stationed at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base: the A-7, the A-10 and the F-100.
