This is just so horrific and sad! Many of the buildings are from the 17th century and have been gutted by this fire. We were just there a few weeks ago and had such a beautiful day! Prayers go out to all those involved!

This is so sad. We ate at Buzzards with some friends last May. The latest update, 8 AM:

~~~~~~~~~~
According to Mayor Jack Scoville, it looks like the Harborwalk itself is OK.
The finger piers connecting to the stores are damaged.There are still heavy flames in six stores.
Limpin’ Janes
Goudelock
Buzzard’s Roost complex
Buildings between there and Colonial Florist.
Maritime Museum has sprinkler system so it appears to be OK.
Every street in the Historic District almost is blocked off.
Fire units from Georgetown County, Midway, Andrews, Horry County.
Police Chief Paul Gardner says unofficially there is one person who may be unaccounted for. Police are trying to determine if the person was at home or away.
This is so sad. Let's pray that they find that the unaccounted person is alive and well.
So sad :( We have fond memories of sitting on the deck at Buzzard's Roost a few years back on St. Patrick's Day. The loss of those historic building is heartbreaking.
