We will be in MB July 20-27. As first-timers to MB we arent sure exactly what to pack. We have 2 Children, Bentley 4 and Alexa 8 months. We will also be traveling with my elderly grandparents (both in their 80's). What do you usally pack when coming to Myrtle?
Thanks,
Nickolas

P.S. We will be staying at paradise resort.

I know it's silly, and you can buy it down there, but Advil!! Someone always has a headache or doesn't feel well and it's nice to have on hand right when you need it!

Lots of t-shirts and shorts! I take a sweatshirt and one pair of long pants, too - just in case of rain and the evening gets chilly. I always take 2 swimsuits, too - it's no fun putting on a cold wet one in the morning if it hasn't dried overnight

It's funny - MB is the only place I usually have clean clothes when I come home. We like to spend a lot of time on the beach and in the pool, so some days clothes are only on a couple hours to run out to dinner - so I'll wear them twice. And I usually buy a couple MB t-shirts at the Eagles, so those are extra, too.

Depends I usually have all shorts and short sleeve shirts (mostly polos so if I go golfing, no tshirts or blue jean shorts on the golf courses) but my mom and aunt sweatshirts and long pants because I like the condo colder then they do.

We used to have a "check list" on the board with suggestions of of what to take to the beach...but now I can't find it. Maybe we need to start another.

Here are a few things on my list to get started:

baby powder - gets the sand off your feet
beach bag
cooler
cold bottled water
sunglasses
hat
sunscreen (at least #30)
water shoes
camera
aloa vera (or anything to sooth a sunburn)
business cards or notepaper/pen
book
tube of lip balm
anti-bacterial wipes
beach chairs (unless you plan to rent)

Kind of a hybrid sneaker/flip-flop:

Other items in our "MB Bag":

Coozie wraps to keep cans cold
Plastic spoons/knives/forks/cups... paper plates (I hate to do dishes on vacation)
Paper Towels
Coffee and filters (unless you know your resort supplies)
Radio or external speaker for MP3/iPod/etc
King size sheet to put over couch (some couches are not always the cleanest, and the sheet will prevent sand from getting onto the couch).

If you're bringing (or buying) an umbrella in MB, think about one of these:

It's called a "Sandgrabber".... you can buy similar ones at Beach stores, but most I found weren't as solidly built. Really holds the umbrella in the high winds. Additional info at:

http://www.shadeusa.com/beach_umbrella_ ... andgrabber

Enjoy !

But Kirk...MY water shoes are Powder Blue! :clown:

I bought them about 10 years ago at one of the shoe outlets at Tanger. They easily expel water as you walk, weigh practically nothing, protect your feet from hot sand, broken shells, whatever you might step on in the ocean, etc. And they dry quickly. Certainly not a fashionable accessory (even if they are Powder Blue) but a practical addition to my beach gear.

Should have known powder blue !!!! Lesson learned...

Funny because Kelly & Jan are traveling next week and will do some snorkeling. Bought a pink snorkel for Kelly and a blue for Jan. Kelly immediately grabbed the blue... Geez, she loved pink for 15+ yrs, how was I supposed to know it's no longer an "in" color ? :BandHead: (guess it doesn't help I'm colorblind) :joker:

a few clothespins...if you will be hanging beach towels over balcony rails...clip them together under the rails...less likely to blow off... :sunny: have a great time!

This is the one greatest tip I learned when we first traveled to Disney. Go to the dollar store and buy an over the door shoe holder such as this http://www.amazon.com/Honey-Can-Do-SFT- ... hoe+holder Make sure it lays flat.

The dollar store ones will be a bit smaller but work perfectly. Hang it over the back of your bathroom door and fill it with all your toiletries. Shampoo, conditioner, brushes, combs etc. Works great, keeps the counters clutter free, and you can toss it when you leave.

We never travel without one!

Another suggestion: Go to the Dollar Store or a Party Store and pick up some of those light sticks or a cheap light up toy. Every year my kids see these at Broadway or somewhere else and want one. They are really overpriced so having something that lights up from home is much cheaper.

Don't know what kind of vehicle you have, but we pack up all our stuff in plastic totes and avoid the luggage. It saves space and is easy to unload and pack up instead of having like 10 pieces of luggage. I buy all my food at the beach and usually pack up meds, sunscreen, and such.

Just got back from a cruise and went to dollar tree and bought one before we left. Worked great. Was an essential on a cruise ship with the tiny bathrooms, and would work well in hotels too.

Also go to dollar tree and buy some dirty clothes bags made from the net like materials. Works great for hauling dirty clothes back, but even better for beach toys. Much easier to wash the sand out. We looked for them when in MB but apparently looked in the wrong section. I was looking in the beach toy section, but they are located right beside the over the door shoe holder. At least I know where to get them next year.
