I was looking at Accuweather and Weather.com and they had wildly different weather for Myrtle Beach! Who is the most accurate?

From my experience in MB, it is a look out the window forecast area. I guess it really depends on when you are going down. I know in the summer time there is pretty much a chance of thunderstorms on a daily basis, yet it rarely ends up happening for the most part. If I am traveling anywhere, my first look at forecasts are from the local TV stations web site. I know that Accuweather and the weather channel both base most of their extended forecasts only on numbers spit out by a computer model with no human input. The local TV stations will at least have a meteorologist interpreting the maps and putting his or her thoughts out there.

I use Carolinalive.com as well mainly because it gives the water temperature.

It depends upon the day of the week :)

They usually all differ some and the weather can differ quite a bit along out 60 miles of coastline and then you go over the waterway and more differences.

It rains more on the beach in Myrtle than the beach in Garden City and I think this is due to the waterway being further from the beach, the warm air rising from the water keeps the storms from crossing over and when they edge over it will be pouring out on 707, and when they edge over in Myrtle it hits the beach.

Just my observation after many years of observing :)

Gary

The local meteorologists. Website such as weather.com and accuweather.com use computer generated forecasts.

If I am going to be in Surfside Beach for the time period I am looking at I go by whoever has the best forecast for the area so I have great weather to look forward to. If the weather is worse than I thought when I get there I console myself with the fact that I am there.
If I will be in New Jersey, I go by the worst forecast so I feel I am not missing as much while stuck in Jersey.
