Has anyone eaten here? The MB area doesn't have a ton of breweries and I see that Gordon Biersch techincally makes their own beer. I was wondering if the place is worth a trip to Market Commons.

I haven't had their food but did have a Marzen style beer there last year. It was good for the style. I'm not sure I'd make it a point to go back though and I don't know why that is. Perhaps it's the fact that there are so many good places to eat already.

We live very close to Gordon Biersch, so it is on our restaurant rounds. We think they have a good menu and the service is good. Their menu has changed a lot for the better (IMHO) in the last few years. Now they have more of the foods I like to eat - salads and small plates.

Wally will sometimes enjoy one of their dark craft beers (and say it was good) but I'm not much of a beer drinker so I really can't comment. But I do know it's a very popular restaurant and has been doing a steady business since the day they opened, so they must be doing something right!

2 words.... garlic fries

And their beer is very good, especially the Marzen. Met the head brewmasters of one of my favorite craft beers (Devils Backbone) and he worked for a while at GB and was very complimentary.

I was in Manassas VA 3 weeks ago and bought a 6 pack of Devils Backbone Eight Point IPA. I'm mostly going to go for the beer, and I was never at Market Commons before. Thanks

Yes, we have eaten there twice. My reviews should be in my last two trip reports with pics. Our second trip wasn't quiet as good as our first, but we most certainly would return.

I have lunch here occasionally with my friends. The food is usually really good but the service is sometimes good, sometimes not. I really like their salads.
Oh and there burgers are really tasty too.

Wally and I had dinner at Gordon Biersch this evening. Happy Hour lasts until 7 and since we arrived at 6:45, we decided to take advantage of the reduced prices. Wally had a dark beer and I had a Pinot Grigio The wine prices are $2. off the menu price during Happy Hour. I can’t remember the cost of Wally’s beer, but he said it was good.

I ordered a salad. Spinach, Fruit and Nuts Salad, tossed in lemon vinaigrette and served with dried cherries, pears, goat cheese, blueberries, raspberries, yellow peppers, spiced pecans and toasted almonds.$11.98

Wally ordered Blackened Fish Sandwich: Mahi Mahi fillet dusted in cajun seasonings and griddled. served on garlic-toasted ciabatta bread with cajun remoulade, tomato and mixed greens. $14.99.

We sat outside because it was a nice evening, and the table umbrellas were raised to avoid getting sun in our eyes. This is a great view of the people walking around The Market Common, and it makes you happy to be where you are at this point in time.

Service was good, as was the food.

Thanks, Melissa. The homemade chips are the BEST! I probably ate half of those on Wally's plate. (Well, he DID offer to share!) :clown:

As I said, I was never at the Market Commons. Maybe this will give me an excuse to go finally.

Both the food and the beer surprised me at this place. I was under the impression that since it had more of an upscale look/that there's multiple locations across the country that their beer would be targeted towards the average Coors Light beer drink etc, but it wasn't. Thank you.

A little late but we definitely did. Gordon Biersch will be a stop for us again this year when we head down in August...as will the Piggly Wiggly.
