Here is a link to their dining: http://www.bflanding.com/dining

Most of the places we ate were chosen because we had kids with us and they chose. We've been to Dick's Last Resort...not my cup of tea, but some like it; House of Blues, Johnny Rockets, River City Cafe (different location, but I like River City) and Ultimate California Pizza (hated it, but most on the board here seem to like it) I hear that Umbertos is really good.

Why thank you for that info Lisa!

Your little girl is so cute.
My daughter will be 8 on the 13th
and my son is 15.

My husband was at a Dicks in Tx and loved it
as I'm sure my son would but my daughter
would hate it!

We went to Ocean City Maryland last year
but this year I feel more stressed in the planning area!

Just so much to see and do and its hard to choose!

Trisa, we usually pull into the Grand Strand around noon, so we usually hit Barefoot our first day at the beach. Our grandson Eddie loves Joe's Crab Shack so we normally have lunch there. He dictates pretty much of our itinerary  . There are a lot of great places to eat at Barefoot Landing and we've eaten at most of them. The Johnny Rockets @ Barefoot is the only bad experience, because as I stated in another post, made me sick as a dog .

Our check is isn't till 3
so I am worried that by the time we check in
and get to a place to eat it will be a bad time
of the day for lines :dontknow: .

Does Joes or anyplace else have GOOD shrimp?

Last year at Bethany Beach we ate a a place called the cottage
and it was the best shrimp I have ever had!

Yea I read bad reviews on Johnny's
and that its way way overpriced for a hamburger place!

Thanks for your reply :nanner:

Thanks, Trisa...she's ornery, too! Johnny Rockets was mostly for the "Happy Days" vibe. The kids had never been to a "soda shop" before. Over priced, probably, but the hamburger was fine. However, in defense of Ron's argument, I know that when you get food poisoning from somewhere it can totally ruin it for you forever. I got it from shrimp one time and never ate it again for 2 years. :off-topic:

Depending on which way you are coming in. You could stop at BFLanding on your way into MB and get something to eat. You're right, once you check in, etc and make your way back there, it could be supper rush and wait times can be unbearable for hungry kids. I don't know if Joe's Crab Shack has call head seating or not.

On a personal note...my advice would be to plan on really liking Myrtle Beach and, consequently, plan on returning. This accomplishes a couple of things, you don't feel as if you will be running around trying to "get it all in." Been there, done that, kind of ruins the vibe and before you know it you have to leave to go home and you wonder where did my relaxing vacation go to! You are going to love the beach area. Sometimes I hear that people will have a full agenda and they get to MB for the first time and the beach just "grabs" them and they toss the agenda. JMO

Our check in is at 3 and I hope to be on time.
We will be staying a night at my aubts in NC on the way down
from Pa and she lives 3 1/2 hours from Myrtle so it will really
help break up the trip!

I have no clue how far Barefoot is from Surfside.
Anyone know?

I am sure we are going to love Myrtle.
We may be back but we are already talking abot a vacation to TN
in Gatlinburg next summer.

Maybe we will change our minds once we have been
to Myrtle!

Thanks again for your input!

Trisa

I remember someone posting that the BFL general store would be reopening, but I don't remember when. I think they also said it would be under new ownership.

It is interesting the mindset of my wife, kids and myself.

Initially we wanted to go to MB one year then somewhere else each year. We enjoyed MB so much the first year we decided to go back again. The more we go the more we find and the more we like. Also it helps really knowing where you are so that you don't spend the first 3 days of a vacation figuring out where you are and what you are close to.

Familiararity is a huge plus for our continually choice of MB each year.

Last year I planned out entire trip
tp ocean Vity Maryland but this seems
so much for stressful of a trip to plan.

Just so much to pick from to do!

I don't want to miss any of the really good stuff
but don't want to be over planned and feel like I have
something planned for every min of the day.

1970-My parents and three kids drove to Myrtle Beach with no hotel reservations and according to my Mom, about $200 to spend. This year, we will take our 40th consecutive trip! I can't imagine summer without it.

I love Barefoot Landing...I also love Broadway At The Beach  I am sure we will visit both more than once on our trip this year. One of my favorite shops at Barefoot is the Peanut Shop. Their chocolate covered peanuts are yummy. I also would rather watch fireworks at Barefoot. Did I mention Maggie Moo's is at Barefoot. I can feel the pounds already.

ah..........Maggie Moos. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

also, I love the taffy shop and watching them make it. (at Barefoot)

but personally I also prefer Broadway. It's a great place to walk off Captain Georges!
